Wayyyy Too Early Top 5 Class 6A

Seen or heard anything about spring practice?

My son is on team and they have been lifting weights, doing workouts in field, and have had couple practices with full pads. As far as I know, things are going good. I was impressed with Wallace at parent meeting.

This coming year, and the following year will be Saint Xavier’s best chance to beat their rival and win one or two state championships. Of course it all depends on, if they, at this point, believe they can ever beat their chief rival again.

Simon Kenton returns two really good running backs Sergent and Hammack.

Looking forward to scrimmage with SK. Those RB’s will be good test for our D.

1. Trinity- The trendy/hipster thing to do is to pick against them. I mean the Rocks have to stop winning at some point? Sure you can do that.. but history suggests you would be picking wrong.

2. St. Xavier- Optimism will be high on Poplar Level Road and for good reason. A very good team returns with a new fearless leader. Kevin Wallace will win a Title in the next 5 years at St. X, my bold prediction, but not sure 2018 is the year it happens.

3. Scott County- The Cards have the beef and the talent to make some serious noise. Barnett and Covington will give Defenses fits all season. Will they have the juice to outlast the Louisville powers? To be determined.

4. Male- Henry Vestal will be one of the best players you haven't heard of yet and Jack Lucas will anchor a Bulldog secondary. Male took a small step back and may not have the high end depth to push Trinity, Male, or Scott County.. but don't count them out.

5. Simon Kenton- The Pioneers keep winning 11+ games and continue to remain a tough out in the 6A landscape. Simon Kenton might not have their stoutest team, but they will once again factor in the grand scheme.

Top 3 of your list and then the rest this year. Question is how the bracket plays out to the finals

6A cross bracketing in 2018 shakes out like this… Region I is District 1 vs. District 4, Region II is District 2 vs. District 3, Region III is District 5 vs. District 8, and Region IV is District 6 vs. District 7.

T and X would likely see each other in the west semis. The four districts in the NKY and Lexington areas will make up the eastern half of the bracket. The easy prediction to make right now would be a Trinity/Scott County title game, but you never know.

Nobody is talking about Fredrick Douglas. I know they lost the Leblanc kid to North Texas but other than that don't they return a pretty good group?

They lost a quite a bit more than just 1 player. They lost significant portions of their d line and o line, best linebacker, and all running backs with experience. That being said, they did "add" some pieces from other schools but I don't think they are going to close the 30 plus point gap with Scott County. I do think the gap will close some, but still see SC winning pulling away. SC lost their qb and a few others but return a bunch of starters and should not miss a beat. I also think FD will be challenged in the city this year more than last.
