Whitley County

Featured Replies

This will be the meanest most agressive team in the history of Whitley County. This bunch will guard your behind from the time you get off the bus untill you are reseated and heading home. Whitley will lead the 13th in floor burns, stitches, head knots, bruising screens, collecting loose balls and in your face intimidating defense. They are led by the a Bobby Knight prototype who refuses to allow his players to even think about losing. Losing is an unacceptable concept in Mike Deatons Camp. The only thing in the gymnasium meaner than the kids this season will be Coach Deaton and Deatons biggest fan the Mountainmutt.

Whitley fans get out to Charles M Lawson Gymasium cause the Colonels are going to be ready to rumble. There will be no 60 point routes like last year. This bunch and their leader had rather crawl on a bed of broken glass than to lose their manhood in a 60 point qroute.

Colonel Pride is back and the South Whitley boys are ready to bust some heads.

I thought basketball was about making baskets, dribbling and passing and playing defense. Not busting heads, maybe that post was supposed to be on the football pages.

MTMutt you make us all laugh with your over the top support of your team....keep it up!

What about the AAU team that is reportably very good that he will have. Lets face the facts Coach Deaton does extremely well with what he has and I see no reason for him not to make a big improvement in the WCHS basketball program.

If I remember right Whitley got a little rough in a couple of games last year.

I may just have to stay at the house Dec 1 when Corbin travels to Whitley. It may be safer.:scared:

Mt Mutt, how close do you expect this game to be?

I thnk he is just what Whitley County needs. He has a proven track record. And with Deaton at a school as large as Whitley it won't be too long before they make some noise in the 13th.

I agree. Mike Deaton is just an outstanding coach. Whitley will make some noise in a year or two.

If you liked the old Kansas teams and the current UNC teams, you will love Coach Deaton! Hands down one of the greatest in the state.

There will be a good story on Deaton and the Colonels in tommorrow's edition of The Times-Tribune.

4chs- I think the game at Whitley will be a barn burner. If Josh Crawford scores 16 or more from the free throw line, Corbin wins a close one. If Crawford can not hit his free throws or if he wilts under the continual beating, Whitley wins in a close one.

Crawford will be the best player on the floor but, he will have someone holding and banging on him all night. Take Crawford out of the mix and the two teams are close talent wise.

Umm, OK.

My, my, my..what faith Mr. Mutt has in the Colonels. Is this the same Colonel group that lost 4 games in the Freshman and JV ranks last season to the Hounds? Have they improved this much? Not selling the new coaches, players or anyone else in Colonel land short, but I would think the Hounds have a nice supporting cast for Mr. Crawford. I would not be surprised to see Crawford have many nights this season with a triple double for Coach Pietrowski.

Many times players who are overly aggressive also become ultra emotional and find themselves confined to the bench due to excessive fouls, technicals and overall sloppy play. I have always found the best basketball players to be very controlled and maintain their poise in the heat of the battle. Let's hope this spirited game is played with class on both sides of the court. I am sure Coach Pietrowski appreciates the bulletin board material to help his players focus on the district showdown.

Welome to the site Professor Moriarty :thumb: If you need anything...just ask.

I wonder if the Colonels will challenge for the district.

There were teams that played Crawford that way last year and it did take a toll on him at times. There were a few officials in the 13th who would not give him many calls last year, maybe because he was a freshman, but at times he took a beating and could not get to the free throw line(the Whitley game at Whitley comes to mind). He spent a lot of time in the weight room in the offseason and he is a year older, so hopefully he can finish inside despite all the contact this year.

I know that Whitley has several big kids on the inside(15 fouls or so)to bang around in the paint, so I fully expect Coach Deaton to instuct them not to allow uncontested layups and force teams to earn it at the line.

It is clear the the professor knows his stuff, but I would think that using BGP material for the locker room would be beneth Coach Pietrowski. I would not think he would need it. To be honest I don't think Corbin sees this as a rivalry game any more. To fit into that catagory you need to win sometimes and even with the addition of Deaton on the WC sidelins they can't and won't win so the need to BB material is a moot point.
