Why is this game being played at Newport?

thought the championship game --- home field advantage is based on record and since Holy Cross is undefeated......?

HC is letting Newport host to ensure that field conditions are good no matter what the weather.

thanks ... makes a lot of sense

And don't forget the lack of lights at Holy Cross.

E70 -- no faith in the young Cats? Keep in mind that from what I've been told the young Cats have played a lot more freshmen teams that actually played 10th and 11th graders. Perhaps this may make them better prepared.

:irked:

I want to have faith in them but after the way they played them the last time i dont know the cats are a lot better they have a good run game but thats about it i dont think they have completed 5 passes all year i am hopeing for a win wonder how long sence Newport freshmen won a championship

Holy Cross by 21.

I am going to be rooting for the Wildcats... but Holy Cross seemed to be on a whole other level than Newport the last time they played...

Holy Cross 27

Newport 7

I tried to watch their practice today (Newport) they looked alot better than a few weeks ago. Their QB looked like he was throwing the ball better and their O-line is huge. Hope they can pull it out and I think the last time Newport Freshmen won a championship was back in 1992.

Looks like its going tobe some smash mouth football I hope that big O line can open some holes, they have good speed with 21 and some power running out of the full back 32.

Newport wins by a field goal, they do have a very good kicker.

HC beat LLoyd 22-7

Newport lost to Lloyd 12-6

I think they won it in like 96 or 97. Whatever year the guys who graduated in 2000 like Nick Partin and Charlie Smith and those guys were freshman was the last time they won it. They just whooped everybody at the freshman level an they played different teams back then. They didnt play many small schools they were killin teams like Ryle, Covcath and such.

I think your right. Charlie Smith was like a fullback playing quarterback. Tough kid. Hard to stop. Thanks for clearing that up.

The Cats QB Cody Collins #3 has looked good at practice throwing the ball

to his main wide out Casey McDaniel #8 I look for him to have a few balls thrown his way he is tall and fast Brandon Tucker #21 will get some balls thrown to his allso I look for some hard running out of Cody Short #32

The main man on defence will be Nathan Ilg #34 they will depend on him to stop the run allso Kenny Trimble #20Newport has a bright future with these

yuong men

good luck to both teams

I heard Newport has some big boys up front on the O-line. I hope these guys can step up to the challege and make something happen. Who's coaching them this year? I know their numbers have been up this year and last year.
