Wayne Stevens from Bath County needs 6 yards to get to the 5000 yard mark for his career. Wayne is a super kid. He works hard year round on and off the field and in the classroom.

 

This will put him in with some select company. There are currently 28 members of the 5000 yard club according to the KHSAA.

I have watched this kid play for two years and he is a great football player. Very impressive numbers in a great high school football career. I wish him the best.

Stevens has always racked up tons of yards playing on a Rowan County team that was very mediocre and played teams that were probably even worse, and it's pretty much the same situation at Bath County. He's still a good back and a very hard runner.

Fairview, Lexington Christian, Pairs yeah I see what you mean momcat "weak teams for sure" :confused: He had to sit out against Raceland "another really weak team" because of a hamstring injury.

 

I don't care if you play JV squads every game 5000 yards is impressive.

 

Plus he has been playing injured all year.

5000 yards is impressive, but i could name about 3 or 4 backs just in the area that if givin the same chance, would probably have more yards.

Momcat, I'm just guessing but I doubt Rowan Co. or Bath Co. either one had any All-staters blocking for Wayne.

 

Go ahead and tell me the 3 or 4 names your talking about if had the "chance".

 

If I was 2 feet shorter and about 100 pounds lighter I'd have a "chance" to win the Kentucky Derby.

5000 yards is an impressive number ,no matter were or who was blocking for him.
