1966 - 28-4 record and ranked 15th in the state..

Once again, good is in the eye of the beholder, as someone mentioned above. What is good to one might not appear so good to another. August is a nice little community that enjoys Augusta High School Athletics. They might not have the strongest teams to compete in the region every year, but I guarantee every year they will play hard and they have had some good teams.

I remember Brossart having a very good team and a good season my senior year back in 1965.

Looking back into the record books we were 9-21. Most programs would refer to that as dismal, but seeing how we were 0-22 my junior year, we were quite happy to be 9-21. As a matter of fact it was the best record in our schools history at that point by a long shot. Previous to that 9-21 season our best-ever was 4-15 in 1960.

Every school has great athletics. I am not singling anyone of them out. I know at Augusta it is a big deal if we win something regardless of what it is. Being 39th Runner's up is a big deal compared to with Mason (no offense to them) they slap the number on the banner woho, but they do celebrate when they get the 10th title.

I HATE consolidation. The 10th title is nice and all but Augusta vs. Bracken is what every kid in A-Town plays for. I am almost positive that better teams and bigger wins would be in store for an Augusta/Bracken consolidated school but you'd be getting rid of the best rivalry in the bluegrass. How could you bring it up AHSPanther23?

Most recently 2002 season the Panthers were 22-6. From '01-'04, the school had a 66-39 record. One of the best 4 year spans in school history. Granted there were no major championships over that span but respect was gained and a winning attitude was added to the school which hadn't been seen in years. During that 4 year span the school won 2 Holiday Tourneys, finished as Class A Region runnerup, and had wins against 4A and 3A schools in Montgomery Co. and Harrison Co. Something that was unheard of for a small Independent School like Augusta. Also the '01 Freshman squad with only 7 players on the team won the Freshman District and Regional Tournaments.
