I know you probably couldn't tell by Saturdays performance but I do think John Hardin is one of the top 20 teams in the state. Scott County is solid and they shot lights out that day. I don't know many teams that would have dealt with them that day.

As a 16th Region guy, where do Ashland and Boyd County stand in the conversation for the top 20?

I'll leave the rankings up to TB&G but I feel like Ashland has to be close, with Boyd pretty much right there with them. Ashland's schedule isn't much to talk about but it's still good enough to put them somewhere near the top 20 with only two losses by a combined 10 points. A six point loss early in the season to top 15 GRC and a four point loss to rival Boyd County in round three of this seasons series (it's hard to beat a good team three times in a row) aren't what I would consider bad losses at all.

Yeah, Ashland's resume is devoid of a win that really jumps off the page at you. Teams in the 16th don't usually get a lot of opportunities against marquee teams from other parts of the state.

I agree, usually Ashland schedules a little tougher out of region games than they did this season, but I get it given that they're coming off from essentially a complete rebuild of the program over the past few years.

You can blame me for that one. When I showed up John Hardin was up 20-8, but once I got there it was ugly.

I don't actually think the Scott Co game is what hurts them near as much as the losses to Etown and Adair Co. They were also hurt by Tilghman having a bad week which takes a little bit of the shine of one of their best wins.

That along with a 2-3 record against other teams in the 15-30 range is why I have dropped them out.

I feel similar with both John Hardin and Pulaski Co that they are a good enough team to be in the 15-20 range, but a couple losses to weaker teams coupled with a lack of big time wins has me keeping them on the outside for now.

Excited to see Doss get love here the other polls are a joke sometimes

Agreed...some head scratching losses on the resume. Good job with the list

Looks good. Glad to see my GRC Cards inching up the polls.

Rez is correct. John Hardin dropped out of our Top 20 after the losses to Adair County and Elizabethtown. There's not much time left in the season, but they should win out the rest of the regular season. If others falter, they might back their way back in.

I think Estill should be close too. Beat one of the region contenders in the 16th in Boyd County by right around 7-8 and then defeated Pulaski County, who was ranked in the state at #11 by 14.

I understand your angst. Both Ashland and Boyd County have great records, but neither has a marquee win. However, as you mentioned, it's hard sometimes to get those games. Boyd Co did lose to our current #8 Ballard back in December, 95-68.

Sometimes you just have to play the cards you're dealt. Hopefully, whichever of them make it to the Sweet 16 will get a chance to prove themselves there.
