Congrats to the young man. Had to be hotter than a "fire cracker" and really fun for everyone to ride that wave.

My question is why PC, with a talent like Allen, would want to play Calvary Christian? What do they have to gain? This is that horrible scheduling coaches do to get "guaranteed wins". This does not help them prepare for districts or more importantly region.

This game was contracted out 3 years ago. Coach Belcher isn't one to schedule games to get a guaranteed win. Nice try though.

They played them at home last year so they probably had a home-and-home agreement.

 

They have about 7 or 8 games with this type of score - why question only the Calvary Christian game? Is it OK that they played St. Henry when they won by 32?

 

They tried to add some better games via the holiday tournaments. But if you have agreements with teams, you can't just back out of those or it comes back to bite you in the long run.

Pendleton County is good, but not great. It would be foolish for them to play 25 games against top 25 competition. Mixing in a few breathers benefits the players and the bench. Nobody in their right mind is going to blame a late January Monday night win over Calvary Christian if Pendleton loses in the first round of the 10th Region tournament.

Plus, what happens when they have some seasons down the road where they are not even that "good"? If you backed out of all your contracts just so you can toughen up your schedule for a couple years, good luck finding the easier games when you need them.

I'm not meaning to be a Pendleton County defender, but all three of those schools are within one hour of Falmouth. They've played Clay, Clark, Corbin, Frederick Douglass, Newport Catholic, and in the Lexington Catholic tournament so it isn't like they've dodged good competition. Why not mix in a handful of games with area rivals?
