Final from Owenton. Gallatin had a 3 rim out with 10 seconds left and WV free throws secured the victory.

Stanley with 32 for Walton-Verona. Justin Rassman led Gallatin with 23.

One of the best high school games I have ever seen.

Appreciate it. It was one heck of a game. My first Kentucky game of the yr and probably the best game of the yr so far. I decided you put Stanley on any of the top 5 teams in the 8th and they immediately become the favorites. Idk if that's his regular night but if it is I can't imagine anyone in the 8th better. Before the game I see GC shooting arounds and think, WV by 15+. But give Jones and the Cats credit. They can play with and beat anyone in the 8th on a given night. Maybe they don't normally shoot like they did tonight but without Stanley on fire for WV, Gallatin wins going away. They seem to develop guys out of nowhere from yr to yr. The big boy, Hale and soph. Coomer will be a handful next yr if they continue to improve.

Right on, Coach Jones has done this year in and year out for a LONG TIME. I've said for a long time he is one of the better coaches in NKY as well as the state. Always short on talent, but always competitive. P.S., I have never lived in Gallatin County.

I thought Gallatin was the better team tonight but Stanley would not be denied. Hats off to Stanley, he very much deserved the mvp.

Walton will not want to see them for a third time come March. If they can get the big boy, Hale to be a threat on the inside and some more confidence, GC will surprise someone over @ Henry Co. in about 6 weeks.

Way to go Bearcats!!!!

I think it is worthy to say this. I did not agree with all of the refereeing, but overall, I would rate this as an excellently called game. The game was decided by the players, not the stripes.

Stanley is one of the most underrated point guards in the state. Congrats to Walton on a very good win without their big man.

Always fun to watch players make plays. Stanley and Rassman were fun to watch tonight.

Brennan came into the game averaging 14.1. Dropped 32 with 17 of that in the third quarter alone. He is a special player. The Roy will be very interesting in March. If Hale makes the gimme's that were missed and the Wildcats make the return trip to Richmond. Congrats to the Bearcats and their new HOFamer Coach Brannen.

Coach Jones deserves all of the credit for eliminating the loser mentality that permeated the GC boys program for many years. He is definitely a top tier coach. But, to assume that GC is always full of kids that are void of talent is a lazy narrative.

Ok, I didn't mean for this to sound negative toward the kids, but on paper they usually don't measure up to a lot of the other 8th region teams, however they are most always competitive with them.
