Cash-less Businesses

Featured Replies

I will say the new chip readers have become slower than cash, but it wasn’t always that way. Either way the only time I ever have a need for cash is to get into ball games. I hate carrying it and never have more than $20 in my wallet.

I know many people in the younger generation who never carry cash. Called my son recently as he was on his way to meet me at a restaurant. Told me there was a $3.00 valet right at the door. He acted like I was crazy that he would carry cash.

I thought that businesses were also charged fees to use credit cards. I have seen signs in small stores requesting cash to keep their costs down.

I know valet places are now using an app that you download and can pay and add a tip electronically. It’s way easier.

With the new chip enabled cards, there is no way credit is quicker than cash.

I see people say this all the time and I dont get it, my chip cards take no longer than they did before the chip.

Most airlines only accept credit cards for food or beverage purchases.

Every flight I’ve been on has accepted both, but it has to be exact change for cash.

Outside of gas, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t pay cash.

Agreed and I often use cash for gas as well

The obvious response here is why?

If I pay off the balances each month and the card companies are giving me cash back for purchases, I'd be a fool not to use a credit card for anything and everything I can. What is the incentive for using cash anymore (unless you have no restraint when it comes to using the cards or you are just filthy rich) ?

If the communication line is fast the credit card , even with the chip, are faster.

The other benefit to the business is no lost cash.

While I agree and follow the same plan I think some people choose the cash method as a way to budget or be disciplined in their spending.

I think its harder to stay on budget with cash. I think pulling up an app on my phone telling me how much money I have and how much spent it on helps me much more. Unless you are carrying receipts around for everything it’s hard to track cash.

I use Credit Card anywhere I have control of the card during the transaction, if I have to give it to someone to make a transaction, I dont use a card. Don't use it at restaurants any time, cash only or in most cases I buy gift cards if its a place I frequent and use those. (thats the perk of Krogers and 2X Fuel points on gift cards.)

Disagree, just have to remember to write it down, or put it in your phone. I just use the memo ap on my phone and put it. 7.65 Wendys 1/8/18. boom done.

I know where every penny I have spent has went since 1997.
