Cash-less Businesses

Featured Replies

If I pay off the balances each month and the card companies are giving me cash back for purchases, I'd be a fool not to use a credit card for anything and everything I can. What is the incentive for using cash anymore (unless you have no restraint when it comes to using the cards or you are just filthy rich) ?

Yes and no, but thats a smaller % of the population than you think.

Most airlines only accept credit cards for food or beverage purchases.

Who pays for beverages on airlines?

I know many people in the younger generation who never carry cash. Called my son recently as he was on his way to meet me at a restaurant. Told me there was a $3.00 valet right at the door. He acted like I was crazy that he would carry cash.

I thought that businesses were also charged fees to use credit cards. I have seen signs in small stores requesting cash to keep their costs down.

Im still semi old school, probably around 300 in cash in my wallet right now I would guess. Just a comfort thing in having some cash if needed.

I think its harder to stay on budget with cash. I think pulling up an app on my phone telling me how much money I have and how much spent it on helps me much more. Unless you are carrying receipts around for everything it’s hard to track cash.

If you budget $50 for the week for Lunch, you take out $50 to start the week. When it's gone it's gone. If using a card it's easy to go over.

If it's alcohol pretty much everyone.

Disagree, just have to remember to write it down, or put it in your phone. I just use the memo ap on my phone and put it. 7.65 Wendys 1/8/18. boom done.

I know where every penny I have spent has went since 1997.

You don’t have to remember to write anything down with a debit card. I just open the app and it’s already there.

If you want everyone to have access to your bank account, that is your business.

Using a debit card for anything is a really bad idea, trust me.

I get it from that point, but from a simple tracking where you spend money it’s easier with a card.

If you lose your wallet and someone takes your cash then you can’t get that back. You can get your money back if you use a card.

I lost my wallet 3 years ago. I called my bank immediately and both my debit and credit card were frozen within 2 minutes of losing my wallet. With a debit card you have an exact POS that you can track and see where and when you’re Card was used. With cash you are just screwed and have no possible way of getting your money back if someone takes it.

Drink tickets are getting hard to come by. Plus the fruit cheese box is a must when flying coach to LA.

Every flight I’ve been on has accepted both, but it has to be exact change for cash.

Delta no longer trusts their employees. Cards are only option. I normally don't fly the lost cost carriers but I'm sure since they don't have first class and no drinks are given away so they can hold the flight attendants accountable.

I know valet places are now using an app that you download and can pay and add a tip electronically. It’s way easier.

I would valet a lot more often if this becomes more widespread.
