BluegrassPreps Boys Basketball Top 20 (1/2/17) Discussion

This looks really good, hard to argue with these. But ...

* I'd slide both JH and PRP down just a few spots

* Despite their record, I think LCA is a top 20 team (at Lex Cath tonight)

* Campbell Co. maybe in, around #19-20

I'd take out Pulaski and Christian Co. and add LCA/Campbell.

I just have to believe that there aren't 18 teams in the state better than Doss.

Doss can be a very dangerous team with Stephon Franklin playing like he has and Tate Calloway hitting shots from everywhere it's fun to watch but the problem is they haven't won any of its four big games Friday January 5th they have a home game vs Fairdale who has a high powered offense so we will see

Coach Goodin doing a masterful job at Louisville Butler. The dude can coach. They might be top 5 at this point. Lexington Catholic and Bryan Station too high. Doss is too low. Where is Lexington Christian? They are clearly top 20.

Bryan Station and LexCath have earned their spots IMO. LCA is definitely a top 20 team. I think they are top 10-15 easily.

If Campbell County is in then Boyle County should be in also and Boyle County doesn’t deserve a top 20 ranking at this time.

Goodness- LCA not close to top 10- zero guard play.

I think a lot of people are still stuck on pre-season rankings. LCA is 6-6 and the teams they've beat are a combined 34-46. They are big, and with a healthier Rode they will be better, but right now no way.

LCA is not top 10, but that 34-46 isn't correct. A few of their opponent's current records:

Lex Cath 10-3

Fairdale 8-5

Trinity 12-1

Mercer 11-4

Boyle 7-4

Scott Co. 11-1

Corbin 9-3

that's 68-21 for 7 of the teams they've played. The other 5 weren't strong, but with these 7 opponents (2-5 against) you can't call their schedule weak.

I never called their schedule weak. Anyone who plays in the 43rd district and 11th region is going to have a tough schedule. Playing a schedule that is tough but not winning them doesn't automatically make you a good team. I think the second half of their season will be a lot better than the first and I expect them to appear in the rankings when it is all said and done.
