What does Georgia backup QB Jacob Eason do now?

Featured Replies

Since Jacob Eason will be a junior next season should he transfer from Georgia? With a freshman leading Georgia to the title game and the # 2 QB in the class of 2017, Justin Fields, set to enroll early at Athens I say he has no choice but to find another spot. The sad thing is he will have to sit a year if he goes division 1 and that could delay his dreams of playing at the next level even further.

He's certainly in a tough spot. He's proved he can play at this level. He could stick it out and fight for a spot, or he could transfer. He could always transfer and use his redshirt year to sit out and have two years as a starter somewhere else. A lot will depend on whether Georgia wins the title or not. I think if Georgia wins the championship next week, it's going to be tough to unseat Fromm as the starter. If they lose, that could open the door up for Eason to win his job back.

Is it worth it to take that chance? We're talking a lot of potential NFL money if he doesn't try to prove himself. Things like what happened to Tom Brady don't come along everyday.

I say look elsewhere for your opportunity. I know that if you transfer down you are eligible immediately, does that apply if you were to move from FBS to FCS? Just a thought, some good football played just a half a rung down the ladder.

The moment he steps on campus for the start of spring classes Justin Fields is the best QB on Georgias roster. I would not be shocked to see him win the job next fall. I like Fromm and Eason but Fields brings a different dynamic.

Win or lose, Fromm is the starter for the next 3 years. If Georgia changes QB's after his performance against OU, the coaches should be drug tested and see a shrink. :lol2:

If the coaches don’t give Justin Fields a fair shake the next 3 years they should be drug tested. The kid is special. I really like Fromm and I think he is everything you want a QB at UGA to be. Fields is a different animal IMO.

What are you basing your expert opinion on? Highlights on HUDL? Reading some other fanboy’s blogs? Have you seen him play live?

I’ve watched his actual game film, yes. No I

have not watched him live in person. But he’s rated as the #1 or #2 player in the class by many recruiting services whose job it is to go watch these guys live. Fields is heading to Athens with the expectation that he will recieve a fair chance to prove himself otherwise he wouldn’t be going there.

I've him Georgia, I let Eason and Fromm duke it out in the Spring. You've got a good thing going with those two, no need to change your entire offensive identity and go with Fields. Of course, I like the more traditional pocket passer QBs as compared to the dual-threat guys.

Eason was rated very highly too coming out of HS...top 5 in the country regardless of position. I agree Fields will get a chance to win the job, especially if Georgia loses to Alabama. But it's going to be really hard to ignore Eason's talent and the fact that he's already performed at this level. I don't think it's a slam dunk that Eason remains a backup @Georgia.

Yeah I never mentioned Eason. I’m assuming he is going to transfer.

Hard to believe Fromm was playing HS football last year.

Georgia's coaches might be thinking, if it's not broke don't fix it.

It doesn't take a special talent to hand it off a couple of different ways
