I am just glad that he didn't get talked into concentrating on basketball. Braxton Miller (6'2", 195) has developed into a very good running back with 1,110 yards and 16 touchdowns on 130 carries; average of 8.53 yards per carry.

Trent Calhoun (5'11", 185) has 817 yards and 15 scores on 114 carries for an average of 7.1 yards per carry. The last time Lincoln County had two backs rush for over 1,000 yards in the same season was 1995 with Davey Francis and Aaron Simpson. Trent Calhoun needs 183 yards rushing in the final two games to make it happen this year.

By comparison, the two best/most notable running backs in Lincoln County football history, compiled the following numbers:

Michael Penman (1988-State leading scorer and rusher)

Carries 361

Yards 2,330

yds/carry 6.45

Points 250

Jeremy Simpson (1993-Mr. Football)

Carries 397

Yards 3,044

yds/carry 7.66

Points 284

Braxton is stacking up pretty well against the numbers posted by those two. He could wind up as the school's third 2,000+ yard season rusher.

What colleges are giving these 2 a look?

Wow, in the last 2 threads you have indeed given some names of some great ball carriers in death valley. With Lincolns football program looking to be back on track, it would be great to see the teams from the late 80's and 90's all brought back for some kind of reunion if Lincoln gets a home playoff game. I think that would be a great thing for the community and this years team.

There have been reunions from time to time. Larry Phillips, head coach from 1984-1990 was in Stanford for the GRC game a few weeks ago. He met with some former players and shared some memorabilia with them that he had collected during those years.

I spoke to him on the phone that day and he is spending his time in retirement raising racing Pigeons. After he left Lincoln County, he went to South Oldham and then to Trimble County as Principal.

He sounded great and it brought back a lot of good memories speaking to him.

Are we sure Montgomery County is as good or improved as many people like to say?

Remember, they lost to:

-Jeffersontown (2-7)

-Mason County (6-2, but not as good as normal)

-Harrison County (5-3, but not as good as normal)

-Clark County (4-4, but not as good as normal)

They also defeated:

-Madison Central (5-3, but not nearly as good as they usually are)

-Whitley County (1-7)

-North Laurel (3-5)

-South Laurel (3-6)

They have defeated three bad teams and knocked off a decent Central team that pales in comparison to the last few years in Richmond. They lost to one terrible team and three teams that aren't nearly what they have been in the last couple of years. While yes, Montgomery has improved, they aren't nearly at the level of Lincoln County.

Great to hear Phillips is doing good. A great reunion would be bringing back a couple of the radio announcers for a possible playoff run :sssh:

If gchs uk9 would look at Lincolns schedule, they have played or played teams with similiar records as Montgomery County.

Montgomery lost their first two games while on the 3 yard line when time ran out. Even though there is no excuse for losing a ballgame, the coaching staff has done a great job this year.

GRC, came back on LC, and had a chance to win the game , all because the Cards stoped LC, running game dead in its tracks. So they do have a weakness .:fight: GO Montgomery.

We will know the answer to that question tonight.

Goes both ways!

Obviously! In fact, where's Captain Obvious when you need him?

That's original!

That's original!

You appear to be new here. Captain Obvious is a long-time tradition at BGP. I am sorry if you did not understand the reference.

However, you will not engage me in a childish back-and-forth. I will discuss football with you all day here if you want. Otherwise, I will be ignoring comments like this.

Good luck to both teams.
