Just saw this on the KHSSA website, final from Friday night.

 

Checked out the Grove's roster......

 

1 - 7th

1 - 8th

5 - frosh

1 - junior

 

Don't think the Grove fielded a team last if memory serves me correctly.

 

Happy for the girls being able to play, but this is another example of a team that should have played a JV schedule only.

They actually did field a team last year and in fact won a game just last week against Covington Latin to give Alex Dean his first varsity coaching victory.

The W over Cov Latin broke a 29 game losing streak that dated back to the end of the 15-16 season.

Maybe it was softball last year, but I they didn't have girls hoops in the recent past.

Part of me thinks making that move is more difficult then we realize. What if there are contractual obligations that carry fines? What if it results in having to cancel a boys sport because of Title IX? What if there is a certain amount of time to wait before being reinstated?

 

Also, what schools are interested in playing JV only games?
