HHS "babybirds" are scheduled to play Boone Co. today at 6:00 at Boone Co. I hear Boone has canceled 2 home games because of field conditions. Anyone know if Boone intends to play this game? If the field is in poor condition bring it onto the turf at HHS!

I will be shocked if Boone agrees to play it at Highlands. Hope I am wrong as moving it to Highlands makes the most sense. My guess is that they will want to play it on Monday if its not played today. Coach Barr will have to then determine if we wants to play a game on Monday against Boone and then have to play Dixie on Thurs to determine the winner of the East bracket. My guess is he will not. I wouldn't. Doesn't give Highlands much time to recover from any injuries incurred against Boone and does not give much prep time for Dixie. And there's no doubt about it, the Dixie game will be huge. Two likely undefeated squads fighting to determine which team goes to the championship game.

 

Since the Boone game does not mean anything in the standings, if Boone insists on playing it on Monday, cancelling the game is a possibility. While I can understand why Boone would not want to give up home field advantage, with the likelihood of the game being cancelled entirely if it had to be played Monday at Boone, and with Boone already being eliminated from the West bracket, playing at Highlands today and losing home field advantage makes more sense for the Boone program than missing out on the game entirely I would think. But trying to figure out the reasoning of high school coaches is a difficult thing to do.

It's a freshman game, play it at Highlands!! Too many people put too much emphasis on the freshman games. They are in a learning mode trying to learn the schemes/system for the next 3 yrs. They are not playing for a State Championship.

That fiels will be a mess come football playoff time. It is ashame the Boone Co school system wouldn't let Shawn put in FieldTurf!!

I agree with you comments regarding the Freshman players are till learning schemes. It'll be a shame if the game is completely cancel when there's an alternative site available like HHS.

So what is the difference between playing Thursday and Saturday or Saturday and Monday. I guess it doesn't matter since they have agreed on a new venue.
