Why would he want to stay? He has done more damage to Highlands in just a few years that it will take him a decade to rebound. He has lost some support that I'm not quite sure he can get back. I'm sorry, the morale is at a all time low right now. No one with a kid in the program would admit it but it's reality. It's time to move forward in a different direction. When people say that a few coaches won't return and there will be changes, I'm curious who that is? Weinrich is way too loyal to some of those guys to say they aren't welcome back as coaches. Nothing will change unless Weinrich decides to step down which isn't happening. No way! The Staff will be 90% in tact in 2018 and the same nonsense will continue for however long Weinrich allows it to. With the classes coming up, Weinrich will save his job on talent alone for another 5-10 years or however long he wants to coach. I personally wouldn't want to coach up there right now. Yes the expectations are a little unrealistic right now but what's different now than it's ever been.

You seem to have a lot of, if not all of the answers. So who are his "buddies"? Is one of them the coach who threw him under the bus to one of his friends?

Did Weinrich ever have a chance with the Highlands faithful when he took the job. It seems to me he never had a chance. Everyone keep in mind it was Dale who groomed him and was the big reason he was given the job. I will say it again I don't care who got the job you were not going to win for a few years after Dale left.

To be honest though, that may have been the worst thing that could have happened. I feel that there was some complacency that set in after the 2014 season and before the start of the 2015 season.

 

That was the year when the decision was made to replace the field turf at the stadium. As a result, there was no spring practice and summer practices were very limited until the turf was completed when the "dead period" ended. There was no attempt made to find an alternative facility, rather time was spent in the new Fieldhouse which really did not allow for a true representation of what the 2015 team had and/or didn't have going into the season. As a result, there were struggles early on and it took until the just before the bye week for some changes to be made. This to me was a sign of the "culture" change that everyone speaks about. There was a reluctance to make changes in personnel as well as simplifying the offense. Viewed more as a bump in the road rather than a need to do things differently. Unfortunately, that same thought process still exists today and you are seeing its impact on the wins and losses.

 

The complacency exists from the top down IMO. That is why there needs to be a shake-up and a reboot in the program. I am certainly okay with BW staying on as head coach, but changes need to be made to bring back the "pride" of wearing that HHS football jersey.

The 2015 team was one game away from playing for a state title for the 9th consecutive year if you remember correctly. They had Pulaski County on the ropes, and let them off because of some of the things that have plagued them over these last two seasons. That being the inability to make in game changes when a team takes something away that was successful and not going "all in" when the stakes were at their highest.

 

Could that 2015 team have won a state title, who knows, but they should have at least had a chance. My son currently plays with several of those Pulaski kids at LWC and they have each said that they were "lucky" to get out of the Fort with a win that year.

 

Last year may not have been state champion caliber, but they certainly were not 3-8 caliber either.

 

This year, it would have been tough to knock off CovCath, but again who knows when you do not get that chance. This years team should be playing tonight and should not have lost the games to LexCath, Simon Kenton and South Oldham. Maybe not won all of them, but at least 2 out of 3.

 

It is pretty apparent to everyone that "something" needs to change in and around the program to ignite that "fire" that has been missing. Continuing to do the same thing over and over and over just is not going to get it done.
