Iowa, Wisconsin or Penn St have the talent to knock off UM or tO$U just the same as Alabama, Georgia or LSU could knock off Florida or UT. There is half of the SEC lead by ARKANSAS right now. There is a lot even between the Big 11 and SEC. The one thing that isn't even is that Michigan and Ohio $tate are superior to the top two in the SEC (at least this week)...

If PSU hangs with them, I'll agree with you. But at this point, I dont see it happening. Honestly I think Mich is a little underated at this point.

The one thing that concerns me is going to Penn St. They haven't played well on the road in loses to tO$U and ND, but they have been solid at home. Plus you know they want some revenge for the game last year. Trap game written all over it, and also the type of thing that tends to happen when I go on these rants... :lol:

October 10, 200619 yr I dont think the argue here is being made that the SEC has the best team in the nation. That is a decent possibility however. But if you look at the rankings and the opinions of what most of the commentators think, you will see the SEC is the premier conference. There is just no way around it really. The Big 10 is next, and only have 3 really good teams. The Pac 10 has USC, and really no one else that great. The Big 12 has Texas and Oklahoma and thats about it. The ACC has Florida St and Miami who are way down and some decent other teams. I can basically agree with you here LMB. I would however say that Ga. Tech in the ACC is pretty darn tough and Va. Tech can be tough. I would rate them 1. SEC (no question, 8 good teams, 6 VERY good teams) 2. Big 10 3. Big 12 4. ACC 5. a tie between the Pac10 (USC and the 9 dwarfs) and the Big east (UL and WVU, no one else).

That may have been a good comeback, had I made some kind of statement saying how Lloyd Carr was so great, but I didn't so that holds no weight to me. FWIW, I think Michigan is the best team this season despite Carr....The sooner they get a new coach the better for my boys.
