Were they lined up for an onside kick? I didn't see it, I started heading to the car prior to the extra point. The game was a bit chippy, likely the most chippy game Ashland has played this season, I would blame that on the refs as much as I would the kids from either team, as they never took control. I really can't see Tony Love calling an onside kick at that point in the game though, chippy or not.

I have to believe you and LRCW, I can't imagine Love or any other coach doing that.

So are we talking about a 7 on 7 game or a varsity game? As far as the Varsity game with Boyd goes, yes the kids did quit prior to the Ashland game and yes Ashland played the JV and freshman once the running clock started. You must have some bad info if we're talking about 11 man football. The fact that Boyd beat Ashland in a 7 on 7 game during the summer has nothing to do with tonight's game or even the district game versus Boyd. Let it go man, you're reaching for something that isn't there.

 

Seriously...we're how far into the season and we're still talking 7 on 7? Man, I thought after a full regular season that the offensive line's efforts were worth more than this.

 

I've seen junior second teamers 100% whiff on kickoffs. If someone like LCRW is saying that a kid missed the kick, then I take him at his word. Ashland has a reputation that goes way back - WAY back. I've seen a lot of Ashland games, and I've not ever seen them do anything like going for the jugular after the running clock is ticking. Let's call this what it is: a first round game that was decided before the teams took the field.

LRCW, we are going to to agree to disagree. I'm not trying to besmirch anyone's character, but there are some schools down there don't necessarily agree with certain actions.

Boyd's kids didn't quit until after the Ashland game. Boyd surprised Ashland and beat them in a 7 on 7 game this summer. Some former Ashland middle school coaches celebrated. Ashland in turn hammers them during the regular season.

 

I have no problem with you disagreeing LABS, but facts are facts, and you don't have them. The kids from Boyd County quit before the Johnson Central game, the week before the Ashland game. Sounds like you sat beside a disgruntled Boyd County fan/parent/coach last night and he fed you a bunch of bad info. Tony Love has always won and lost with class. Now I know some local schools have had problems with the way a former middle school coach did things, and have had problems with the way some of Ashland's administration has done things in the past, but as I've said Coach Love has always done things with class.

There was sure some head scratcher calls by the officials. Not sure why the game got so chippy, not a huge rival or anything.
