How does Raceland have another district championship if Paris wins? Doesn't Paris and Raceland play at the end of the year. If Paris beats LCA they (Paris) are undefeated in the district and Raceland has one loss in the district. So I am not sure how Paris beating LCA would give Raceland a district championship?

Did anyone see local Lexingotn news yesterday morning where they interviewed Chase Dumphord, the HUGE lineman for Paris? He looks like a stud D-1 lineman at 6'7" 310#! He plays basketball as well and actually took a football and easily "dunked" it over the goal-post crossbar!

 

Dumphord is a great prospect with great size, but I saw him play this year and their Right Guard impressed me way more than him. Dumphord plays both ways and gets tired quickly in a game. Coach Raines will have his lineman on him all day. LCA wins it 42-21.

Let me explain...the new format has it that the District games ONLY establish the seedings 1 thru 4 for the Playoffs - which ARE WITHIN our own District this year...so the #1 plays #4 and #2 plays #3 and then the winners play in the 2nd round of the playoffs for the DISTRICT TITLE!

 

Strange but that is how it has been established starting this year.

that is good then they double /triple team him and then it will open it up for PARIS to run on past the LCA line

Correct info. Nothing strange about it, only that it takes away from the meaning of regular season dist. games. Teams are basically playing regular season to obtain a home playoff format. It is a hard thing to like when you are old school football.

Where did you get this info at. I've searched and the only thing I can find is the KHSAA rule book which still has it as being decided on regular season play.

I agree, imo the regular season should determine the district champion. Imo the regular season shows an entire slate of games including the teams opponets played and beaten outside of district (in case of a tie). Thats the way it is now however and so be it. In my mind anyway the district champion would always be over the course of the regular season and the playoffs would be just that.........playoff games leading to the regional championship and not also determing the district champion. That was decided in the regular season. JMO.

I find this highly unlikely:rolleyes: The rulebook clearly states that the Champion is determined by regular season play and I see nothing in your link to prove otherwise. I've sent an email to KHSAA for clarification and I will post the response. See District Champion on page 65 of the 2006-2007 rulebook. Link below.

Well EagleEye...I didn't have to wait long...Butch Cope emailed me and CC:Julian Tackett the following.

 

due to the new format ...the in-district play ...district champions will be crowned Week #2 of the playoffs ....district "seeds" are established during the regular season ....1 through 4 ...as in other sports...
