Russell vs. Estill County predictions

Featured Replies

The offense is actually a double wing, somewhat different from the single wing.

Didn't Estill run the single wing most of last year?

No, they have run the double wing since 2001, but they may have been in different formations out of it that looked like the single wing.

Thanks, I thought they ran they ran it against Russell last year.

Russell 42-7.

Actually Estill did run the single wing last year for the last four games (Morgan Co., Russell, West Carter, Powell Co.)

I thought they did. You don't see that offense run very often. :thumb:

Has Estill gone back to traditional football, or are they still running the double wing ? I watched them in the playoffs a few years ago and the running game was impressive. It looked like a street fight taking place in a mud hole but it was impressive when the backs broke the long runs.

I watched Estill County earlier this year and Estill has a totally different look they have changed to a spread shotgun type of offense

Estill has switched to mostly shotgun sets, somwhat like the Franklin system. I would like to see them go back to the running game though, seems like they have had more success at it. I love watching the double wing work.

The single wing offense gained more yards for Estill last year than the double wing, because like you said you don't see it very often, it's pretty tricky.

Have they changed their gaps on the offensive line. In the past they played their offensive line with no gaps. Made it very difficult for linebackers to see in the backfield.

They have changed everything since going to the Franklin system. They take about two to three foot splits on the line.

This game should give Russell the opportunity to look at some backup players.

Is this Russell's homecoming game?

You are 100% right it should but the way it has been done I don't see how you could possibly tell anything about any of these players 1 or 2 plays a game for each of them even the frosh. One game they were running into each other .Run in-down set -run out ------what is that? Come on guys these players deserve better don't you think? With a little thought a REAL look could be given to some of the back up players. Not giving them a real opportunity could be bad especially if they are needed when you have injury's etc. These players work just as hard and in some cases harder than the chosen few.
