I like hearing that DeSales Dad...losing to a historic 6A powerhouse by 1....hmmm not much into moral victories but I can see what ya saying sir...

I am so proud of the colts and their staff. Formerly young men that would only consider Saint x or Trinity, are now taking a hard look at DeSales. They have more than a few players that were headed to X or Trinity change their minds and settle in at DeSales. I just wish the DeSales varsity would upgrade their schedule with some Indianapolis catholic schools, or Cincinnati catholic schools. This would tend to attract even more athletes.

Tigers win by a whisker and finish the season undefeated. Desales has a bright future.

They do have a three year series with St X starting next year (Louisville, not Cincinnati).

DeSales Dad, that indeed is a huge upgrade just like the good old days when all the catholic schools would play each other. If coach Harold Davis isn’t coach of the year, I would like to know who is. Look at his record since taking over the head job, that speaks volumes. It is remarkable what he, the parents, the players,and his staff have accomplished.

From what I’ve read on this site, STX beat Trinity JV twice this year. Nice accomplishment for DeSales to only lose by 1. I don’t envision DeSales being able to beat STX & Trinity on the varsity level on a yearly basis any time soon since the discrepancies in numbers really show at the varsity level. Nothing wrong with being a powerhouse 2A or even 3A team sometime down the road.

Way to take care of business young X-Men.

With the win last night, the St. X JV ran their two-year record to 19 - 0.

 

Several talented Sophs who will continue contributing for St. X the next two years!

Makes next year's season opener for both schools more interesting as the Colts will host the Tigers in varsity action next August.

A couple of games that would be very competitive, DeSales vs Jeffersonville. DeSales vs New Albany, or Floyd central.

St.X will be a daunting task for the Colts. X is arguably the 2nd best team in the state this year and will geared up to complete with the likes of Trinity next season. We should be pretty strong next season too. Win or lose as long nobody gets hurt I'm cool with this match up....

Agreed. DeSales beat St X in a JV game in 2014, but like you said, the numbers at the varsity level are often a separator. Ones versus ones isn't that different, but it's when you sub two or three deep, particularly on both lines, that the drop off becomes much larger.

The best part of the deal for the upcoming games was that St X approached DeSales with the idea for a three-year series, and offered DeSales two of the home games. It's a win-win for the Colts. There will be an electric atmosphere for that game next season.
