I think Raceland wins by 3 or 4 td's. But I hope Russell proves me wrong.

Will Damon Black be able to go against Russell? I noticed oldrambler said Black was injured in the Paintsville/Raceland update thread.

I think so. Hurt his hand, but x-rays were negative.

This was the best game in NEKY last year. This year, I'm not quite sure what to expect. If Raceland shows up focused and plays inspired football, they probably win by a couple of scores. You gotta wonder, though, about the possible lingering after effects of another loss to Paintsville.

 

I do, however, expect Russell to leave it all on the field. They just got the RCB trophy back for the first time in several years, they're not just going to roll over and let the Rams take it from them.

I hope that Rams qb, D. Black will be ready, able to handle the football w/o problems. We really need him ready to go. Although I will say that imo the Rams back up qb is a good one, may end up being one of the special qb's like Raceland has had through the years, he's just young (Fr.) w/o a lot of game experience. Pitching a winning district baseball game vs. a loaded GCHS team as an 8th grader last spring tells me that he can handle pressure / big game atmosphere along with being an outstanding athlete.

I can't hardly believe that some are picking the Rams by 2 or 3 TD's. Games that Raceland has won in this recent series (since it was revived around 8, 9 yrs.. ago) all have been relatively close games ..around a TD or less with a couple of ot's in this rivalry. So, I wouldn't go picking any blowout.

Russell will be ready to go and Coach Maynard, being the excellent coach that he is will definitely have his Devils prepared, focused and ready to tear down "the Hank". Raceland is a little banged up and I hope they won't let Paintsville beat them again this week, meaning not getting re focused after the big district loss.

I hope your gut is right. Neither team has the playmakers they had last year, but it should still be a hard fought, competitive game. These two teams haven't exactly had the kind of seasons they were hoping for so far, but one of them can close out their regular season on a high note.
