October 16, 20178 yr Event brought over 1MM people to the city over the weekend. Well done Cincy!! And the streetcar finally got some action! 26,944 people rode it during the weekend compared to a normal weekend of 10,621.
October 16, 20178 yr And the streetcar finally got some action! 26,944 people rode it during the weekend compared to a normal weekend of 10,621. Heard it was jammed and free! Shocked to hear it was only a little over double the normal usage.
October 16, 20178 yr Oh, and only 1 shooting this weekend, I believe. Someone was shot multiple times in a 4th street parking garage but survived.
October 16, 20178 yr Heard it was jammed and free! Shocked to hear it was only a little over double the normal usage. The streetcar was free this weekend? One of the biggest weekends of the year to finally make some revenue, and it was free?
October 16, 20178 yr The streetcar was free this weekend? One of the biggest weekends of the year to finally make some revenue, and it was free? The guy that told me they rode it said they never paid and it was too crowded for any one to come around to check.
October 16, 20178 yr Who is paying for that? I would say almost certainly tax dollars in part if not the whole amount.
October 16, 20178 yr Downtown was packed last night. Bars and restaurants were jammed. Parking was at a premium. As for Blink itself, very underwhelming. Random buildings with random lights being flashed onto the side. Blow up figs in different areas, not a whole lot of music. I preferred luminosity hands down over this event I went for a little bit, the bold above is exactly right, very underwhelming. However, at least I could walk about in the street with a 6 dollar beer so there's a positive!
October 16, 20178 yr I love the positivity you bring to the conversation. It gets people out in the city that aren't your normal bar goers. And its something different for people who like to do things in their city. Not everyone can be bumps on logs. The City is notorious for doing things that are fiscal irresponsible. This is/was just another example.
October 16, 20178 yr Event brought over 1MM people to the city over the weekend. Well done Cincy!! Did they sell tickets?

Shocked to hear it was only a little over double the normal usage. The streetcar was free this weekend? One of the biggest weekends of the year to finally make some revenue, and it was free? My point exactly, make the street car free, when it will get the most use. Use extra police force with no means to pay for it. :idunno:
October 16, 20178 yr Did they sell tickets? No but they sold lots of parking, beer, brats, hotel rooms, food, trinkets, etc that generated a ton of tax revenue.
October 16, 20178 yr And the streetcar finally got some action! 26,944 people rode it during the weekend compared to a normal weekend of 10,621. Tricia Macke just said the 27,000 was 4 Times the normal usage. #fakenews
October 17, 20178 yr Event brought over 1MM people to the city over the weekend. Well done Cincy!! Should more than makeup what they spent on the event.
October 17, 20178 yr Should more than makeup what they spent on the event. I Did hear that they had a lot of sponsors that stepped up this year. Not sure how much the city had to pony up for the event.
October 17, 20178 yr I Did hear that they had a lot of sponsors that stepped up this year. Not sure how much the city had to pony up for the event. The guy running it said it cost just over $3 million to do the event this morning on the radio.
