October 3, 200619 yr would you sign Harang for if you were the Reds GM? Go 2? 4? 6? Lock him up for the next 6 and hope he is the cornerstone of the rotation as Smoltz has/is for the Braves? On a sidenote: How much do you offer him? 6 years, 60 million? 4 years 36 million?
October 3, 200619 yr Wow, so far in this thread I've seen Harang compared to Smoltz and offered $11 million / year. Wow.

October 3, 200619 yr Wow, so far in this thread I've seen Harang compared to Smoltz and offered $11 million / year. Wow. He did lead the NL in wins...:sssh: 5 years would be plenty.
October 3, 200619 yr What do you think he would get in arbitration??? He makes $2,350,000 this year (2006), so no, I don't think he'll get a 500% increase over this year. I think something in the $5 to $8 million range is more likely.
October 3, 200619 yr Maybe it's bad logic, but if Milton is worth 9, I'd give Harang 11... If he was really "worth" 9 Harang would be worth 25.
October 3, 200619 yr Maybe it's bad logic, but if Milton is worth 9, I'd give Harang 11... You were right the first time.
October 3, 200619 yr Maybe it's bad logic, but if Milton is worth 9, I'd give Harang 11... Maybe Milton will volunteer to rework his deal?
October 3, 200619 yr Do you think they sign longterm, or let it go to arbitration one final time??? I would think they'd prefer to sign him long-term, but I don't think they'll be head over a barrell to do it. If push comes to shove, they may roll the dice that he doesn't duplicate it next year and just pay him $5 or $6 this year.
October 3, 200619 yr I would have no problem with the Reds locking up Harang for 5 years at $9mm per.
