Mason plays great when there backs are against the wall but we just need to find that killer instinct to put games away. But a win is a win and im happy with it.On to Ashland next week should be a tough game next week as Ashland and JC looks to be the top dogs of the District.

Coach Evans' Boyd Co. team came out to play tonight. A loss but maybe a little respect was earned from the naysayers.

Sounds like it was a much closer game than what most expected. Boyd is not as bad as their record indicates IMO.

I dont really remember my prediction but I know that I didnt expect it to be this close. A win on the road is always hard to come by. Congrats to Mason Co. on the win and good luck to Boyd Co. next week.

Just like I predicted a hard fought battle. Congrats to Mason

I thought that Boyd could have won, they just seemed to have come up a bit short. Good effort BC and we look forward to playing you next week Mason Co.

Mason jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead, scoring on a long TD pass from Cox to Crawford, who simply outran the secondary; then on a 32-yard reverse by Crawford. Boyd seemed to find its stride after that, running the ball effectively from late in the first quarter until the fourth quarter. Boyd went up 14-13 on a short TD run by the QB following a bobbled snap and a 2-point conversion, but Mason marched down the field on just a few plays, with Marshall scoring on a 20-yard TD run. Mason's defense held nicely on Boyd's last couple of possessions.

Even though it wasn't pretty, a win on the road is a nice way to start district play!

Here are the individual stats as reported in the Maysville paper this morning:

INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS

Rushing: MC - Thompson 13-97, Marshall 6-53, Cox 9-42, Crawford 1-32, Howell 2-9. BC - Barker 18-85, White 17-54, Crisp 7-39, Wilson 8-17.

Passing: MC - Cox 5-13-1-86. BC - Wilson 6-12-2-70.

Receiving: MC - Crawford 1-63, Browning 2-13, Likins 1-10. BC - Crisp 3-23, White 1-22, Barker 2-17, Blackburn 1-8.

With the new coaching staff, I believe Boyd Co will only improve as the season progresses assuming all of the kids keep buying into his system.

Was a much better game last night than it has been lately. Barker was a wild run'n machine as always. Mason likes the spread offense IMO if they'd have stuck with that instead of starting to run the ball in the 4th quarter Boyd would have won. Mason has a good ground team though.
