Looks to be plenty of kids for DeSales to thrive. STX frosh class this year had over 350 kids. You would think that X enrollment would take a hit but apparently not.

Athletically, kids (and parents) are tired of going to STX or Trinity, being on the team, but never getting to play even in blowouts. By going to DeSales kids see an opportunity for playing time instead of being a practice tackling dummy.

4. DeSales has no interest in growing. They like the enrollment where it is, and the administration realizes that they are perfectly positioned to be the alternative to X and Trinity.

 

This is a tremendous approach. Trying to increase enrollment to be 6A with X and T would be silly. Positioning yourself as a small-school Catholic option will reap benefits in athletics, academics, and the community for years to come. :thumb:

I that think DeSales may be about 2,000 cheaper. X is 14,000 not counting lunch, technology fee (wifi and Ipads), and books & apps. Total around 15,000. Tuition aid available if you qualify.

DeSales is in a good situation, small enrollment, all boys. They could never reach the numbers at St.X, Trinity and they don't want to. But they are great alternative to the big schools. There is a lot to be said for small class sizes and the personal attention the students can get at DeSales. And I agree with DeSales Dad....

So how does one acquire tuition aid? And how do you keep the numbers within desired classification? If ten good athletes want to participate at Desales r 10 others asked to go elsewhere? Just curious

Tuition aid is handled by third party company that is independent of school. You fill out application that takes into account income and expenses. They also get copy of tax return. I think they also take in account if you have multiple kids in private school. St. X gives out over a million in tuition aid.

Wow! Sounds more like college than high school...doesn't seem like a fair playing field
