Browns 10 Giants 6

Featured Replies

The Cleveland Browns won their pre-season contest against the New York Giants on Monday night.

DeShone Kizer is still the only QB to put up points for the Browns. He had a 1 yrd TD run and led the team to a 39 yrd fied goal.

Hue Jackson will decide soon on a starter for game 1 against the Steelers so that the team can "rally around the starter."

DeShone Kizer keeps himself in mix during Browns' 1

Most interesting thing about this game was the Cleveland DB trying to take out Beckham's knee.

I think you will see more of this happening in the future because of the rules.

Pre season games are awful, but the teams clearly need the work. Giants need to sit OBJ and Marshall for the rest of the pre season though.

I don't know if the hit was dirty or not but it wasn't really necessary in preseason. Not surprised a Greg Williams player would do it though.

Agree with everything you said.

That hit occurs in the regular season and no one bats an eye. In the preseason it's just unnecessary IMO.

Kizer should be the Browns only choice at QB so of course they will probably go another direction. If Hue wants to last awhile he better go with Kizer and let him take his lumps and get better and build for the future. Anyone else and they are just delaying things another year.

^ If they don't start Kizer in Game 1 that does not mean they wait until next year. The beginning of the season starts with some tough division opponents and some think they will go with experience out of the box and give Kizer several weeks to get acclimated then bring him in. Otherwise, he will take a beating early on and they don't want to risk the future yet.

However, the most recent stories out of Cleveland make it sound like Kizer will get the nod. All along, the sports writers favored the scenario in the first paragraph.

First off, the hit on Beckham was NOT a dirty hit. If you look at the reply, the corner lost his footing a bit.actually slipped. so get over yourselves already. As far as Williams being the D- coordinator, hell yeah!!! Bring it on!!! This franchise has been pathetic for a long time. Bring some attitude!!!! Worked pretty well for the raiders for many years.

second,i wish they would not start kizer till after the first four or five games. playing the Steelers,Ravens, and Bengals in three of the first four weeks is not doing the kid any favors. Also gives the o-line a chance to get use to each other, and get healthy. Couch,Quinn,Wheedon,Manziel. They pushed all these guy's out there when they weren't ready, and you see the results. If Osweiler is a bust after week four/five, which i think he will, then go for it. That way,he'll have a little time to learn from the side line with Hue Jackson. But,they will probably keep repeating their tragic history, and screw this kid!!! It's what the browns do.

Unfortunately for him, he's like Ochocinco was... he made himself a big target by talent and by mouth...

not sure about this particular play, because I didn't see it... but he's the kind of player that many defensive players want to hit hard and often.

Ok.

I heard Kizer is starting the next pre-season game. Sounds like he may be starter in game 1.

Again, this is not a video game. The kid had already committed to make a play.Appeared to lose his balance. And besides,if he lets up on the play and Beckham fly's past him for 30/40 yards ,maybe a touchdown,he's probably looking for a job!!! What does the preseason have to do with anything? guy's are trying to win jobs. Play hard!!! The league and union have created this problem. You can't hit them here...you can't hit them there...blah,blah,blah...IT'S FRGG'IN FOOTBALL!!! Or supposed to be. With the union cutting down on the amount of contact in practice,it has made these guy's a bunch of cream puffs!!!! You have to HIT to get your body ready for the regular season. imo..!!! I guess even football is getting too politically correct for me. "the hit was unnecessary" ...really!!! Obviously you weren't around in the days of Butkus,Tatum, and Lambert...lol!!! We will have to agree ,to disagree. If you don't want to get HIT,don't play!!!

Again, I didn't see this particular play.. so I can't comment on that.

But in general, I love this post... so true... don't play dirty, but play football. I'd hate to be a DB in the league right now... don't hit high, don't hit low and by the way, contort your body at full speed so as not to hit high or low... tough to do in many instances.

Thanks footmaster. I guess what I'm trying to say is, nothing in life is tied up in this nice little package. For people to say...well,he should have done this,or he should have done that...it's a bunch of crap! It's a cop out!!! Your not being realistic!!! This isn't a cartoon where you can stop in mid air, and everyone plays nice, and everyone gets a juice box,and a pat on the butt!!! NO! This is real life, and a game played at real speed. most of these guy's don't like each other! End of story. Just trying to give a little perspective!!! ...lol!! It's ridiculous the way common sense has been eliminated in our thinking. Anyway, looks like Beckham is fine, let's move on. LET'S PLAY FOOTBALL!!!
