They're still the largest school in the commonwealth, I believe. So are they fielding anything more than the standard freshman, JV, and varsity?

Thats interesting, 2 of their 8th grade teams last year were average at best. Now they combine 3 schools at the Freshman level, so that combo could be why they are loaded. Gtown was pretty good for a small school.

In Jefferson county I would go this way, Saint X, DeSales,Trinity,and male.

Is it common for smaller schools like DeSales to have have freshmen teams that can compete with the big boys - Trinity, St. X, Male, etc. - in Louisville?

Devil, over the past couple of years DeSales can more than just compete on the freshman level. They are doing great things over there on kenwood avenue.

ST X Frosh beat Desales 34-13 and beat CAL 35-14 last year. Some years they compete better.

Tiger, you are right about that. The colts are trying to build consistency at all levels.

It was just a few years ago that they would not even schedule freshman games with Saint X, or Trinity freshman. Now they are at the point they can be competitive each year. Speaking of that, it is time that Christian academy steps up and plays both X and Trinity each year at the frosh level.

Bowling Green Purples Freshman Team is really good. Almost won state as 8th graders (granted several teams opted out).

 

Eli Burwash is a Mr Everything kind of kid. He will make name for himself next year.

 

Dez Wilson, little brother of Deangelo Wilson, is going to be a great athlete.

 

Justice Dingle little brother is also a stud freshman. The kid is growing like a weed. Probably pushing 6'2 or 6'3 and may still be growing. Great receiver

 

As many folks know, the Purples are on incredible run. 85-3 since 2011. This years freshman class will have an awesome 4 year record at BG. This season through 2021 is looking like the Purple Train will keep rolling.

Trinity freshman beat Carmel from Indianapolis 40-14 . I believe they only played 3 quarters

 

Running clock for 4 minutes of 10 in 3rd quarter and all of fourth quarter. Trinity led 40-0 when running clock started.

 

We'll see how things go when Trinity hosts Saint Xavier freshman on Monday.
