October 1, 200619 yr Gone? Who would the Giants replace him with?? Write this down, Shockey will be a NY Giant next year. They have underacheived through 3 games , and you are ACTING like their season is over. You are OVERREACTING just like they are underacheiving. It is NO BIG DEAL at this moment. Shockey apologized publicly, he made a mistake. Heck even Curt Schilling said he thinks athletes should not be held accountable for things they say within a hour of the game because they are simply too emotional. that's what happened to Shockey, he got too emotional because he loves to win. You're kidding, right? You're not going to really try to tell us Shockey doesn't actually mean what he said in those interviews, are you? Because, if you are, that would be dumb. For good or ill, adrenaline is just like alcohol: truth serum.

I'm talking about Coughlin being gone for losing his team not Shockey! I still think they are a NFC championship caliber team. I never said the season was over... that is you! I said if it were to go on the rest of the year then kiss Coughlin goodbye for underachieving all year. The year is young. I expect the Giants to be in the playoffs. Nobody is overrecating just being theoretical.

October 1, 200619 yr stick1: It's easier to beat on the coach than it is the crummy players. No doubt about that one. I don't put a lot of stock in Shockey saying anything but when multiple stars on one team say negative things about the coaching it's hard not to take a look at what's going on.

For good or ill, adrenaline is just like alcohol: truth serum. So did you try to nicely call me dumb, or what Jim? Who cares if he meant what he said? They did get out coached, and out played. He stated the obvious. He did not say he hated his coach...

Why scrap it all up and start over after ONE bad season? That's dumb and would not make sense. He is not on the hot seat. If he had a bad season this year, and then followed it with another one next season, I would not expect the Giants to re-hire him.

Two guys have said that they have got out coached. Talk about over reacting .
October 2, 200619 yr You keep the Giants blinders on and aren't looking at what I'm saying. I think his job is secure today. If players continue to come out calling him out AND they continue to under achieve then I think with his military coaching style he could get the ax if the chemistry isn't working. I don't look for them to keep underachieving so I think this is all for nothing at this point. If they continue to underachieve or if others call out the coaching then we'll get back to this thread. If not then we are both just wasting our time on this one.
October 2, 200619 yr Shockey and Winslow may be the two most overrated players in the NFL. Shockey and Winslow are not in the same category. You might want to do some research before you make your false accusations. Winslow - (04) 5 rec, 50 yards, 0 TD's. (05) 0 rec, 0 yards, 0 TD's (06) 19 rec, 197 yards, 1 TD Shockey - (04) 61 rec, 666 yards, 6 TD's (05) 65 rec, 891 yards, 7 TD's (06) 11 rec, 134 yards, 1 TD Gonzalez - (04) 102 rec, 1258 yards, 7 TD's (05) 79 rec, 905 yards, 2 TD's (06) 12 rec, 88 yards, 1 TD Heap - (04)27 rec, 303 yards, 3 TD's (05) 75 rec, 855 yards, 7 TD's (06) 15 rec, 99 yards, 2 TD's Shockey's numbers are right there with the best. Not as good as Gonzo and Gates, but close. Winslow has done nothing. Shockey is an elite TE...
October 2, 200619 yr Shockey and Winslow are not in the same category. You might want to do some research before you make your false accusations. ... It's not an accusation. It's an opinion. You need to lighten up when someone has an opinion that goes against the NY Giant way of thinking.
October 2, 200619 yr It's not an accusation. It's an opinion. You need to lighten up when someone has an opinion that goes against the NY Giant way of thinking. It's just crazy to think that Winslow and Shockey would EVER be grouped together. Shockey has proven himself...Winslow has not. It's not smart to say they are anything alike other than they say things they should not every once in a while.
July 25, 200818 yr Gone? Who would the Giants replace him with?? Write this down, Shockey will be a NY Giant next year. The BGP kiss of death... write it down. It's funny to look back on these threads. At that point in the season I thought the coach might be out a job and still think he would have if it had gone more south. I found another good thread, I'll have to dig it up.

That was from 2006 according to the posts. Shockey was with the Giants in 2007, which was the next year.
