The Walking Dead (Season 8)

Featured Replies

Did the story really progress any? The enroute season was a confusing, time hopping, failure of an attack from Ricks crew that left things basically how they were before. The only difference is they aren't in Alexandria and Caral got bit...

There is nothing they can do for those that don’t like the show anymore.

The show has gone from 17 million viewers at the start of Season 7 to 7.5 million viewers at the halfway point of Season 8.

Maybe the negative crowd is onto something.

I gave up on Fear pretty quickly. I always said id stick with this one because I've invested so much time, but I'm close to quitting. Its just not good, at all.

Well yeah I sleep walk thru it myself. I generally don’t watch it live unless I think it’s worth it like tonight.

I thought he implied he was bit when he the new guy were fighting walkers in last weeks episode?

We gave up Fear in Season 2.

I don't think this season has been terrible, but it hasn't been great either. The only thing that interested me tonight was Carl.

But I am with you that it's tough to give up after being involved for so long.

I really had high expectations for tonight, but I think there were 3 or 4 episodes from this season better than tonight's.

Seems like the story being driven is Carl trying to motivate Rick toward a more hopeful, less barbaric future. I'm guessing his death will successfully accomplish just that.

Could be because I don’t think Carl had to take the bite.

All week long all I heard was Judith with a little Darryl sprinkled in.

Concerning Carl, he has mostly frustrated me during this show's entirety. But he had grown on me some in Season 8. I'm not heartbroken that he's dying, but he had become more tolerable IMO.

Ezekiel, on the other hand...

I've never liked Carl. I hope Negan bashes his head before he dies.

I felt like he got the bite when he was in the woods with the new character.

I think both shows are pretty good this season.

It was entertaining I guess, but man, it was so predictable....

Should've had it be Rick that got bit. Show would be so much better without him.

Ezekial and Maggie should've just put a bullet through Simon and Gavin's heads and been done with it.

The Aaron and Enid story made no sense, nor did the junkyard people.

I guess now that I had last night to kind of reflect on the episode - it was ok, but not Mid-Season finale great. Some of the story lines are just so bad.

What was the relevance of the people who captured A-a-ron and Enid? Almost no show interaction with Daryl or Carol, Trash people ran off, and the whole scene with Negan and Rick was lame.

Ordinarily I would be sad that its stopped until Feb. Now I think I don't care.

I guess Rick will finally get his hat back in February.

All in all I thought it was okay. They at least "killed" a major character which I think was essential to moving the story forward. The fact that the viewing audience is left in the dark (both literally and figuratively in this particular episode) so often makes the back and forth from story to story and timeline to timeline more confusing than anything else. Also, how in the hell did the Saviors coordinate a complicated three pronged counter strike with full ammunition and explosives with only hours (minutes? who knows cause they don't tell us anything) to plan it? And where did they get all that ammunition as just last episode they were running low and needed Eugene to make them more? Why did the Hilltoppers suddenly lose their will to fight? Just hours earlier everyone was willing to fight to the death and now all of the sudden they just hand over their weapons without a word even though they are at least evenly matched in numbers/ammo at this point.

Finally, I need to briefly rant about the tiniest little moment at the very beginning that basically summed up the ridiculousness that is Rick and his plans. I'm not sure if it was a writing, directing, or acting choice but its the moment when Rick realizes that the garbage people are running away instead of helping him fire back at the Saviors and he has a look of surprise and frustration on his face. That behavior from the garbage people is exactly 100% what would be expected from them given what we know and Rick should know from literally every encounter he's had with them. Yet, somehow our fearless leader through this universe is still caught off guard by it.
