June 15, 20179 yr The garage door tension spring broke last night. Looking for recommendations on a repair shop. I know it's of zero help but don't mess with it yourself. I tried to fix my opener a couple weeks back and just did more damage.

June 15, 20179 yr I know it's of zero help but don't mess with it yourself. I tried to fix my opener a couple weeks back and just did more damage. That was going to be my advice. Those things can kill you (literally) if you do not know what you are doing.

LOL But he gets the work done quick and cheap! I keep his card in my garage above my opener! I've referred him to a few folks, and they were all happy with the work.

But I'll let the professional come and fix it for $130, new spring, new brackets/bearings and new wires. I try to do many repairs around the house. But this and electrical stuff give me reason to pause and pay professionals.

Overhead door wanted $225 each for 3 single doors when I did mine. I did all 3 for just under $300. For $390 I would have had someone else do it too.

I watched a video and then messed mine up worse, not my proudest moment. The good thing is I now have a keypad remote outside, so no more worrying about keys or not having garage door opener.
