Louisville 8 Xavier 7 (Baseball)

Louisville Regional.

The Cards advance to host a Super Regional, next weekend.

Did the Cards come from behind late? I thought I saw X was up late in the game.

X scored 3 in the top of the 7th to take a 7-6 lead. The Cards plated 2 in the bottom of the 7th to take the lead back.

No lead is safe against Louisville.

Problem is they have been giving up too many runs.

With few exceptions, Xavier mostly just hit really well. What killed me was Louisville taking themselves out of a couple innings offensively.

Could've had several more in the middle innings and put this away.

Stupid base-running error cost them one run for sure and maybe more on the failure to tag on the fly ball.

As an aside, man, these games (UL and UK) take a long time to play. Is it because of all the pitching changes? The pitchers work so slow----are they getting signs/instructions from the dugout for each pitch? Twice that I saw the X catcher called timeout for no apparent reason but slow the game down to unnerve the batter.

I saw a tweet last night that said something like UofL started at 7, Cubs at 7:30, NBA finals at 8 – the game lasting the longest was UofL. LOL

It was kind of fun flipping between NBA finals and the UofL game.

UofL C takes all signs from bench (Roger Williams) and then reads wristband to call pitch. Most teams do that nowadays. Whether strategy or not, UofL is very slow getting signs to C with runners on base. Can't argue with the results over a long period of time, but man is it tedious.
