Covington Holy Cross Indians - 2016 Grade

B+

There is something to be said for hitting goals and breaking the norm. For all intents of purposes a 7-3 regular season with a 21 point defeat to NewCath and close losses to Taft, OH and eventual 1A Champion Beechwood was rather pedestrian. Outside of a dominating district win over Lloyd Memorial there was little fanfare in the regular season for Holy Cross.

The success and eventual storyline of the 2016 season though was better defined by what happened in November. After a much closer re-match with Walton-Verona (CHC won in the regular season by 44 but only by 3), the Indians entered as a decisive underdog against NewCath. The Indians ran for over 300 yards and limited the Breds Offense to win only their second Regional Title in School History.

Danville was also a significant favorite but Holy Cross equated themselves very well and pushed the Admirals until the final horn before falling by 7.

Do you agree with a B+ for Holy Cross? What grade do you give the Indians?

State semi-finals is still pretty good. I'd give them an A-.

B+ is fair. Two very talented players that do not come along very often and they rode them as far as they could.

B+, A-.....I could live with either or.

I was really pulling for the Cross in Danville on that COLD November night, but the top-notch tailgating fare (Finke Quality Meats) warmed my belly :ylsuper:

It was a hell of a ride but this pic right here is the best thing ever... IMO

That's definitely something to be proud of. Good looking crew right there, lamontab.

Now they're off to college this summer... Mission accomplished.
