I played under Coach Rall for 5 years (8th grade - 12th grade) and looked playing for Coach. I have gotten to know Coach Johnson since I got married and moved to Harrodsburg. Two of the best Coach to ever Coach Football. Plus we have two of the best Coaches right now in this area, Coach Smith and Coach Buchanan :ylsuper:. Both to surely make the all of fame some day.

The picture of Coach Rall was taken in the Rebel locker room after a big 4th. quarter come from behind win over Somerset back in 1980. I was in that locker room as we where all fired up over back to back wins over the Briarjumpers!

Ed Rall did a great job at Boyle. This was in the day when you only had two or three assistant coaches and they coached the freshmen and JV teams as well. Ed was also a very good baseball coach. A great coach and a great all around guy as well.

Coach Rall was one of the best.

I still address them with yes sir, no sir when I see them.

When I was a Junior the "Staff" was Ed Rall, Greg Young and Ken Cutrer. They coached the Varsity, the JV and the Freshmen. Rebels were 9-1, 5-0 and 7-1 on those three teams that year.

Ed Rall as one of the most formative men in my life. He taught me so many life lessons as my coach and I will love him and defend him to the end.

 

He had a great run at Boyle until the talent dried up from about '83 on to '87 when he left to coach at Centre.

Those penalty drills seem like yesterday! We had it hard back in the late 70's, early 80's. We didn't have those fancy watering systems like today. Just coolers filled with water and as always Coach Young would let the backs go first because us lineman where tougher! I seen why those coolers where nasty after those mamby pamby backs got water first. Schueler dunking his entire head in the cooler! We all thought 20 40's was hard and was rewarded with a watermelon party. On today's standards that would be easy practice. Guess with all that nice cold H2O you can have a harder practice today than in the past?
