How are the teams chosen? By the coaches? By the media?

Same issues as last year. The coaches need to do a better job of putting together a roster that makes the game at least enjoyable. Hard for kids to play QB when they have not played it at that level prior to last night.

I believe each coach selects players from his own team and it's limited to seniors. Obviously, not all teams will have 5 players that are necessarily worthy of playing in an all star game. When the top players, especially QB's opt out (for whatever reason...whether it's because of other sports, or because of college offers), sometimes, the quality will be less than all star level. There are probably more than a few players in this game that got selected as a reward for 4 years of hard work and dedication, or because some teams simply didn't have many seniors to choose from.

I agree it was tough to watch at times, but I don't mind it because I try to remember this is for the kids and is something they will always remember. I still remember my All-Star game from my senior year. These kids build relationships and friends and memories that last a life time and for some of them it's the last time they will strap up. Sure it could be a little better of a game if your Barnes, Hendrix, etc. played but it's for a good cause and I'll continue to go

A few of those guys were playing in the state baseball tournament. Most of the rest will be playing D1 ball in the fall. Hard to fault any of them for not playing in a small, regional all star game. And them not playing did open up spots for other guys to get a chance to play in one more football game. The game is for a good cause, and I'm sure the guys that did play had a great time.

Agreed on all counts. My understanding is that this game (and the similar one in NEKY) gives good exposure for many guys that could use another look from the scouts. Win-win situation.
