Somerset @ Williamsburg

Featured Replies

Southern Cross is correct in what happened at the Briar Patch but those young people were not from our school. We had 2 assistant coaches and the A.D. go to remove them and they came back to your side of the field. I didn't know the mayor's were involved but it did take the police to remove them from the premises. The incident that occured at Williamsburg also had the police to get involve.

I just hope tonight the focus will stay on the young men on the field and they all play their hearts out....and Somerset wins!!!

I'm not sure of your relationship to Somerset football Jumper1 but you are just as misinformed about the infamous quote as all the other internet posters.

Thanks for the explanation of the events this should hopefully clear some things up. I was just defending the fact that "The Truth" stated that Somerset makes excuses when they lose and that I for one don't. I don't believe that Coach Cobb makes excuses either, he seems to be a very straight forward man with his football team. As for the infamous quote I read what everyone else did in the newspaper, I always look at statements like his with hesitation because the media prints what they want to so they can sale papers.

Obviously you've never been a visitor during a game there. The bleachers are rickety, The visitors side is poorly lit, and there aren't enough bleachers to seat everyone if you bring a crowd. Very inhospitable too. Last year, they refused to allow our film crew to film fron the box. Sitting amongst the opposing team may be an attempt to intimidate, but all it does is show poor sportsmanship on the fans part, reflecting on the team. And if they do sit there, they deserve everything they hear. Most schools in our district treat visitors very well, couple places dont. Its an issue of class.

I can tell you for a fact if the Visitors side is poorly lit then the field is too. Williamsburg has a fine visitor section and the best field in the district.
