Beechwood 2017

Featured Replies

What does Beechwood need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

The defending champs return a lot of quality players. It should be a fun season in Fort Mitchell.

Improvement might be a stretch since they reached the pinnacle last year. Sustainability might be a better term. So many weapons return from last year's title team that I do not see a "glaring" weakness. One area that could drop off from last year, is the dominating pass rush now that Everett and Benson have moved on. Soward will be missed in the middle as well. However, Coach Rash's cupboard is far from bare. The program is so well put together that the holes will be filled with capable talent. I guess one area that the Tigers could "improve" on is winning all of their games which would include wins over Cov Cath and Simon Kenton. I believe they have the talent to hang with the big boys but could fall victim to the depth and numbers that these 2 larger schools bring. Rash's teams are never out of shape so I would not count the Tigers out of these games.

Gonna be a classic Beechwood team.

It's them and Hazard in 1A then everyone else

QB Burch threw for 1995 yards 25 tds and only 2 ints. Davis ran for 665 10 tds and Castleman had 5 tds rushing he also had 18 catches 281 yards 6 tds. CB McKenney had 6 or 7 ints. They should be very tough this season.

I agree. Paintsville is right behind and will be just as good defensively as last year. Hazard also will play them regular season @ Paintsville. But back to Beechwood as I see no one really beating them on the west side but KCD, Russellville and maybe a Holy Cross are the only teams capable of doing so.

Beechwood freshmen were 5-1 last year in the regular season. They also "beat" Conner and Dixie Heights in pre-season scrimmage action if that counts. Their only loss was 28-13 to Covington Catholic.

This season might look like Beechwood football of the past. The line should be very good and RB James Davis is looking like a really strong old style Beechwood tailback.

I've got to get to a Beechwood game this year.

The kid is fast and if he adds power he will be a tough back...

14 kids out of 29 returners are between 145 - 170 lbs. That's not a lot of size. Is that Normal for the smaller classes?

That is a roster that is over a year old and was their sizes from March 2016. They are much bigger next year then they were this past year. For instance they have a kid listed at 5'9" 150, who will be a junior next year and he is now 6'2" 190.

How many will go both ways in 2017? I know they didn't have too many last year.
