Excellent! Great job Birds!!!

Your typical Highlands/NewCath 1-run affair, as both teams flashed the leather.....but the Birds bats came alive when it counted to score the games only run.

 

NewCath had a runner on 2nd and 1-out in the 4th, 5th, & 1st & 2nd no outs in the 7th and came up empty, two times the Birds made great defensive plays to thwart the Breds from denting the scoreboard.

 

NewCath 7th starts with 2.0 reaching on the games only error, a Kelly walk, Kacy Zimmerman with a sac-bunt, then a PO4 & GO6-3 ends the inning.

 

Highlands 7th begins with a PO4, Mack infield single, Abner pinch-hit single to right, Intentional walk to Lorenzen, and then Dill singles to center for the game winner.

Maybe or maybe not. This picture shows me nothing other than the Ball isn't in the 1st baseman's glove and the Runner hasn't reached the Bag yet. Depends on the Angle I guess. Without either Scenario's above you can't really have a Conclusive Decision one way or another.

 

I could of said that from where I was sitting the Base runner was still a good 12" from the Bag. Remember that the Ball is coming in at Varsity speed.

 

Maybe DWC has more Images to this Play. Again, depends on where you were standing but I'm guessing the Ump had the Better view. This play could of went either way but the game still would of ended in a 2-1 Highlands Victory!:thumb: Great game and I'm sure the rematch will be a Dandy.

As did we....1st inning with 2nd & 3rd & 1 Out. Meyers the Pitcher made a Great play stopping the Line Drive up the Middle and Doubling the Runner at 3rd. It gets past her and it's 2 to Zip right away!

From my view she was safe but I must say the umps missed a few calls. Similar to the missed third strike bunt attempt that wasn't fouled off. Missed the bat by a couple inches. Batter called out squashed a Bird inning with runners on. Pretty evenly called game.

 

I guess it's part of the game, but parents stealing the pitch signals seems a little "Bush League". Considering who it was doesn't surprise me though.
