Top 32 Teams That Failed to Win Title since 1985

Interesting that 4 of the 32 teams were coached by Cal 3 with UK and the Memphis team.

Coach K with 4 teams as well.

I got tired of flipping through the slides, so I stopped at #12. My first thoughts are that the '97 Kansas squad should have been moved up a few slots. Arkansas in '95 simply had a disappointing season. They returned everyone virtually from their national title squad and underwhelmed all season. I never viewed them as that great of a team.

I probably would've put Cal's first team at Kentucky (Wall, Cousins, Patterson, et. al) higher than #18.

I saw that most of them were KY, Duke, and Carolina I guess fans of those teams should feel fortunate that their teams are always in the hunt.

Five if you count UMass.

UMass was great that year, but the '96 Cats were one of the best teams to ever play.

Hard to argue against UNLV, but there will never be anyway someone can convince me that the 14'-'15 Kentucky team wasn't the greatest team ever assembled.

Nobody's disagreeing with that. Just that UMass was the best team that year not to win the title.

When their careers are over, the depth of that teams talent will be among the greatest.

Agree. People always want to put Cal in this category but a lot of good coaches lose with good teams.
