When the people that expose an entity for selling baby body parts for profit ARE THE ONES being prosecuted and not the ones actually selling the baby body parts for profit...just think about that for a minute...

I'm a libertarian and I understand the 4th ammendment side of this, and I know it's a fine line. Some may say it is an extreme comparison but I will make it.

 

What if I filmed someone planning a terrorist attack and they did not know ? In this instance we have people owning up to a crime. If the recorders committed a crime then fine, but I do not want that over shadowing the larger crime that was recorded. What was recorded was much more offensive. If the people who recorded broke a law then punish but it does not mean those who were recorded did not break a law.

I am thinking we are talking about different things here. I am not taking any position on Planned Parenthood, my comment was about private citizens taking the law into their own hands.

I'm fine with that. Sometimes the law doesn't protect the citizen. If they cross a line prosecute. But it does not abstain the crime they recorded or stopped.

 

LE is their to investigate after the fact , they can't prevent.

I am rusty on this but at least when the Police do something illegal to gather evidence it is excluded.

 

In today's world of no privacy I would have to think the law will eventually come down on the side of anything that is illegally gathered can't be used in a criminal case.

So if evidence of a crime shows up on LE doorstep they can't use it ?

Heavy handed action on a situation where privacy was not at all clearly 'violated'.

 

Simple recording of two-way conversations is not a crime in some, if not most, states. You can legally be secretly recorded in a conversation without disclosure in most cases. So this is not a simple 'privacy' issue. It seems its more 1st Amendment than anything else.

Agreed. Vigilante justice would be recording and then enacting your own brand of punishment. I don't care how it was gathered, I hope they get fried for black market body parts. Sometimes the end justifies the means. I'm sure not a popular opinion with most.
