Moeller - Henderson Cancelled?

Featured Replies

The only way the game could hurt Moeller is if they lost, not playing or winning is about the same thing in the Harbin.

I don't know about this Harbin thing in Ohio, but couldn't not playing this game have a big impact on Moeller making the playoffs. I would think that they would want to play real bad.

Actually it did hurt Moeller a lot by not playing this game. Their divisor went down to 86, They also lose the L2 points. It's projected they need to "win" 6 games to make the playoffs.

Moe is 2-2 now, will they beat LaSalle? They should, I have no idea about Harrisburg, PA, will they beat St. Ed's, or X? No. Will they beat Elder? don't think so. They end their season at best 5-4, assuming they beat Elder.

I found a link that explains the Harbins:

So, assuming HC wins a lot of games against big (ie D1 in OH), then the loss of the L2 points will offset the lower divisor. If the forfeit was against a bad team, it would probably help you as your lower divisor would be more beneficial.

Secondly, I would not assume yet that they will not beat Elder.

Did you mean not to assume they would beat Elder? I used that as an example, that Moeller would beat them, and end their season as 5-4, Do I hear the guillotine being erected for Crable?. Moeller is in trouble here, as 3 of their opponents will have less than 10 games for the Harbin points, Harrisburg with 8, St. X with 9 and St. Ed's with 9.

Lets just assume they pull off a huge win against either X or St. Ed's, how much would that help? I don't think they will win either game, but hey, most didn't think they had a prayer Vs Byrnes, SC.

Good post.:thumb:

The loss of the probable level two points Moeller would have gotten from beating Henderson more than offsets the divisor though. It really, really puts them in a bind to make the playoffs.

A couple years ago a Cincy team (I think LaSalle, though it could have been Oak Hills), actually missed the playoffs because they played a bad non conference opponent (I think Woodward, may have been another CPS school). Had the game not been played, LaSalle makes the playoffs, but with the higher divisor and the lack of level two points, they lose out on postseason.

Bit of a history lesson, for those who care. The Harbin's aren't nearly as difficult to figure out as most people make them out to be.

I know that the Henderson players were disappointed in not playing.

I had heard a big $$ loss for Henderson Co as well as they paid to have Elder come to town. Any truth to something like 5K to come and play????
