We value AJ McCarron quite a bit.

You know what AD gives you, you have enough of a sample size. You dont know what AJ can give you yet. IMO you trade one of the two at the trade deadline. Some team will need a QB and will overpay to get one.

First, no way they or I will/would trade AD. If they did, he'd get premium returns. AJ would not. That simple. Probably a 2nd at best for AJ and that's not likely

Thats why this franchise will never be a real contender. Unable to make the deals nessicary.

Why would a team overpay at the deadline for a backup QB that is under contract for roughly 10 more weeks and has no familiarity with their system?

Tough decision, but in this league with no QB you have no chance. Without AD for some reason would put the Bengals in that situation if AJ was traded.

Unless you get a "Godfather" deal, you have to keep him for one more year. Just common sense to me.

While we may differ some on our feelings about how good Dalton is. I do agree with this. Unless a team is willing to give a 1st round pick or at least a high 2nd round pick, then I would keep. I think he is more valuable to keep for another year in case Dalton gets hurt than getting a 3rd or worst for him.

Not to mention I didn't realize the Bengals may have McCarron for 2 more years. Since he was basically hurt his whole rookie year, it may not count for a year of service. Which in that case it would not make him a free agent for 2 years. Apparently the Bengals are looking into that possibility. So they may plan on keeping him for sure this year and maybe try next off season.

All the more not to trade him if true. Not sure I would take a second if this is the case. Still probably a first, though.
