Begins on Friday, with champ crowned next Tuesday on ESPN. NCAA Automatic Bid at stake.

In my opinion, top to bottom, this is one of the most balanced leagues in basketball. All but a few NKU regular season games ended in single digits. I think the winner comes from one of 5: Oakland, Valpo, Green Bay, NKU, Wright St.

Who do you have? How realistic is NKU's chance?

Oakland has to be the favorite with Peters having a stress fracture.

Will be tough for NKU to beat Wright State for a third time this year, but if they can, Oakland would have to knock NKU off for the third time as well.

Side note: Is there a more annoying player to watch than Wright State's Grant Benzinger? I know he's a Cincinnati kid, but goodness he irks me like no other.

I would put the probabilities of winning the Conference Tournament like this:

1. Valpo

2. Oakland

3a. Wright State

3b. NKU

5. Green Bay

Hard to argue your rationale, but I say

1a. Oakland

1b. Valpo

based on recent history and Peters injury.

3. Green Bay

UIC is an "easier" first round game, Valpo reinventing themselves (don't get me wrong; still very good), and the Phoenix are defending champs.

4a. NKU

4b. Wright St

This game will be a war. Then Oakland, then Valpo/GB in three days. A lot to ask.

In my opinion, when you look at a team's ability to score the ball, and their ability to then stop the other team from doing likewise, Green Bay is behind NKU and Wright State. Either way, I have to disagree with my friend @UKMustangFan, I think Valpo is still the favorite and the best all around team in the Horizon. However, for sure, Oakland will be a really tough out.

As I predicted, and as reported all over the internet, Alec Peters is officially done for the season. Very unfortunate end to a great collegiate career.

How does this alter the outcome of the tournament? I think Oakland becomes the clear favorite.
