I read a different explanation about the envelope for Best Picture. There are two sets of envelopes, with a briefcase holding each set of envelopes on each side of the stage. The representative from Price Waterhouse handed the wrong envelope to Warren Beatty as he went out on stage.

 

Since political shots happen at the Oscars, I think we should call the various explanations about the wrong envelope fake news. Any media outlet that put out an incorrect explanation are LIARS!

Apparently there was another error made on Oscars night also. When they did the in memoriam segment they put the picture of someone who is still alive up with the name of a lady who passed away. Both ladies are in the industry and their names are almost identical but they put up the picture of the lady who was still living instead of the picture of the lady who passed away

Maybe I misheard it but what I thought she said was "what it means to live a life". That being the case, I get what she was going for but it still wasn't a very good line. Keep it simple.

 

I may have slightly misquoted...but it was really a dumb thought.
