LAKERS: Buss and Kupchak OUT Magic IN

Featured Replies

Can someone help me understand what needs to be fixed here? Seemed to me they are heading toward the right direction if not in it. I know draft picks are scarce, but really, how far off are they?

Is this a reaction to whiffing on LaMarcus Aldridge? Greg Monroe? Phil Jackson?

Is it because Swaggy P is still on the payroll?

Should they be in tank mode right now?

Very far off and part of that is the development of the kids. The veterans brought in have all sucked.

They've whiffed on Carmelo, Hassan Whiteside, Isaiah Thomas, Kyle Lowery, Lamarcus Aldridge, KD wouldn't even take their phone call, Chris Paul and they whiffed by keeping Andrew Bynum instead of giving him up for CP3 like New Orleans wanted, signing and not keeping Howard, signing Nash, Mozzy, Deng, Lou Will, keeping Robert Sacre....the list goes on and on and it is depressing thinking about what could have been.

They are in tank mode except this season it wasn't on purpose.

Does he not have to completely divest from the agency?

Good question. Logic would say yes most likely. Maybe he gets to keep his current clients, but nothing new?

Saw this tweet earlier. I think he has to completely divest.

Interesting undercurrent of trade deadline: The agent frenzy to poach Rob Pelinka's old clients. Every player has numerous new suitors.

I think he'd have to.

I think he'd have to.

I'm with you. I cannot see a scenario where this would be allowed.

Can he turn over control to his son?

I thought you'd appreciate that! :D

@PurplePride92 or anyone else can you answer this question for me ? I honestly am not that educated on this topic. How can Jeanine fire Jim I thought they had equal ownership. I know Jim said he would step down at some point if not successful. But him being fired shocked me.

Well I was way off... At least I got to help you relive that nightmare.

I think they were equal, but she was more equal :lol2:

Jeannie was left in charge of the business. She was given control of the team. As a result she has the power to hire and fire everyone in the organization but when Dr. Buss died she and Jim decided that she would run the business and he would run the basketball operations. Jim initially said give me a year and he'll turn them around then he changed it to three years. His time was up last year if I am not mistaken and when he wasn't fired rowdy Laker fans got even more rowdy. Once he and Mitch couldn't get Boogie to LA she cut them loose. Jim never should have been in charge. He and Mitch screwed things up on their own without Dr. Buss and Jerry West keeping them in check. Ryan West is Jerry West's son and he is currently the assistant GM and I think Jesse Buss is their younger brother and both are expected to play prominent roles in the new regime. Luke Walton was not consulted in any of these moves but his job is safe. Everybody loves Luke.

Kings got Buddy Hield and a bag of balls for Boogie...you'd think the Lakers could have beaten that deal and not blinked. Unless Vlade had no interest in keeping Boogie in the same division, it makes no sense that the Lakers couldn't have made that deal. Unless they weren't interested.
