February 19, 20179 yr I am surprised that none of the Trump critics have started a thread on President Trump's signing of House Joint Resolution 38, which nullified Obama's parting shot at the coal mining industry. Is it too little, too late, for an industry that has been actively targeted by its own government for the past 8 years? President Trump: Putting Coal Country Back to Work Note that this a link to an official White House press release. The text of the bill is here.
February 19, 20179 yr DP&L, local electric generating plant, is supposed to close, it's coal fired. No one has said anything about converting to natural gas or staying on line with coal coming back in with President Trump. A lot of people are employed there.
February 19, 20179 yr Do people think that jobs should trump public health and clean water ? Or do you believe that coal does not pollute our water? Trying to determine the issue with the legislation as it stood prior to today.
February 19, 20179 yr Author Do people think that jobs should trump public health and clean water ? Or do you believe that coal does not pollute our water? Trying to determine the issue with the legislation as it stood prior to today. The issue was that Obama tried to put the last nail in the coffin of the coal industry after the election when Democrats would not have to pay a political price for it. Obama's War on Coal may have cost Democrats the election and it certainly turned West Virginia from a blue state into a red one in only eight years. The coal industry is more heavily regulated today than it has ever been, with the exception of the few days at the end of Obama's administration. Where was your outrage during Bill Clinton's two terms? If the environment should be absolutely pristine, then no mining or manufacturing of any kind should be allowed. Would you support eliminating all of the jobs in those industries? Or do you only support killing the jobs that liberal politicians want to eliminate?

However, this one seems like jobs over good sense. Not sure if that's the right approach.

February 19, 20179 yr Well, this falls right in line with the new EPA guy being a guy that sued them 13 or 14 times.
February 19, 20179 yr Author It's a balancing act. However, this one seems like jobs over good sense. Not sure if that's the right approach. If it seems like jobs over good sense to you, did you feel the same way about Obama during the 7 years 11 months+ that it took him to impose the regulations that Trump just rolled back? I mean how high of a priority could it have been for Obama to wait until after Hillary Clinton lost the election before he took the action that you now criticize Trump for undoing? Not high at all, IMO.
February 19, 20179 yr Well, this falls right in line with the new EPA guy being a guy that sued them 13 or 14 times. Good, maybe its a call for significant change in the EPA.
February 19, 20179 yr Author Well, this falls right in line with the new EPA guy being a guy that sued them 13 or 14 times. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior. The CEO of this nation's largest energy company should have filed at least that many lawsuits against the Obama's EPA every year that he was in office. Obama was a job killer and he should have been held accountable by the courts.

Not high at all, IMO. Fair but moot. Simple question: Is coal contributing to unsafe water? I think most would say that they are. If so, why would we roll back something, regardless of who or how long it took to get enacted, that protects public health? It's really that simple.

You never answered my questions. Don't hold your breath waiting for me to answer your's.
February 19, 20179 yr A point is not moot because you say it is moot. You never answered my questions. Don't hold your breath waiting for me to answer your's. Assume my answers are not favorable to President Obama. Your questions are still moot UNLESS you can show me where they would not have an impact.
