Pikeville 2 Piarist 0 (Forfeit)

Since Pikeville hammered them 93-11 and 100-20 earlier this season, they probably decided it's not worth embarrassing their kids a third time

Perhaps. I guess a sking trip was more important than the commitment of playing in the post season. Other teams had to play them and not get better during regular season.

Good for them. They'll probably get more out of that than they would at another beat down.

If you have never defeated a 15th region opponent and don't want to participate in the post season and would rather do a ski trip then why be in the association?

Christian leagues sound like a better option to me. Would be more competitive. In my opinion its about the profit sharing with the khsaa. I would venture to bet they would have played if no district money or regional money would be there if they had not.

But it really doesn't matter "why" they are a part of KHSAA, they are…..

With some of the numbers put up by Pikeville on them, makes me wonder if there isn't a whole bunch of outward hostility toward this small school. Hmmmm….

As to your prior statement of "commitment" to play post-season, I'm not aware of that clause in the by-laws. Are you stating that all KHSAA member schools are required to participate in post-season as an obligation of being a member ?

Have you seen them? Teams have to play them and try their best to not score. Pikeville could have honestly beat then 200-0. Again they have never ever ever beat a 15th region opponent.

As a matter of fact, I have seen them and I think they put out great effort with what they have. Why is it important to you that they have never beaten a 15th Region opponent ?

What is the significance of that statement paired up with your suggestion that they may be better served in a "Christian" league ?

Pikeville schools has forfeited their share of games in the past, not sure why its an issue now when someone does it to them.

With a combined score of 193-31, it does beg the question of whose time is actually wasted if they do or do not play.

Pikeville should be thankful that they don't have to risk an injury in another 80-point win.

I don't understand the schools logic. In today's society more than ever kids need to learn how to lose, or better yet how to play when the odds are stacked against you. I know they lost a bunch of games by big margins, but a commitment to start is a commitment to finish, regardless of the final outcome. Before anyone asks, I have not seen them play, just speaking in generalities.

To give you a good idea, me and you could compete with them in a game of 2 v 5.

Again, they are 1 - 25 for the season so I think their lesson on losing has been learned. They committed to a season and played the full season.

I am scratching my head trying to figure out why this is such a big deal. Is a team mad that another team basically gets a bye? Is a team mad that they don't get to serve up another huge loss? Someone please explain it to me.

What it sounds to me like is a team that was going to get beaten badly decided not to put their players through that. Wish some could apply that logic to football.

Actually Pikeville gave Piarist three beatdowns this season by a combined 224 pts victory margin. Piarist averaged less then 15 points to Pikeville's 89. I originally held off posting on this thread because I always liked Coach Justice as a player; but, three beatdowns like this are unnecessary and no matter how bad the opponent is disrespectful to the game of high school basketball. He missed blatant opps to teach his players the off-court life lessons coach's only hope they remember and carry with them.

AD needs to take Coach Justice confidentially to the woodshed. The rest of us can just credit it to a youthful mistake. All coaches know there is a 1,000 different ways to unspokenly show a dramatically outclassed opponent respect without humiliating 80 point beatdowns (time-after time-after time).
