Pikeville 2 Piarist 0 (Forfeit)

Featured Replies

Piarist has forfeited. The real question is should they now get a cut of the 59th District proceeds as their fans will buy no tickets and no concessions (although it would have been few)? Thoughts?

They will also get an even 1/16 of the 15th Region boys and girls tournament proceeds as well.

They have earned their cut.

What's the reasoning for the forfeit?

One game does not a District make....they should definitely get their cut.

Additionally, this school may need it more than any other school in the 15th...

So you feel its ok for them to get an equal share of the money that the fans of East Ridge, Pikeville, and Shelby Valley contributed. I may be wrong, but it does not seem fair to me.

I'd like to know the real reasoning as to why they forfeited. Sickness? Ineligible players? Ski trip? Don't feel like being there because they don't want to get beat like a drum? Is this a draw district and they didn't like their draw? I feel like if it's due to them not wanting to play the game, they shouldn't get any cut at all and should be dropped from KHSAA immediately.

The district is seeded. They lost all their district games handily. I have heard no explanation for the forfeit, but there are several unsubstantiated rumors out there.

Considering there are only about 75 students total and their basketball team is 1 - 25, this was probably a good decision on their part. I give them huge props for even trying to field a team.

I do. They are part of the District, they played a full schedule, which I assume included District seed games and they should be treated as such. Anyone that thinks otherwise is likely not seeing the forest for the trees….

Fairly forgiving in your treatment of member schools….certainly hope you're not close to anyone on any BOC….

If there just not going to show up and play, why should they be in the KHSAA? I understand if there's an illness going around or if there are suspended players but if they don't want to show up and play, that's ridiculous and there just wasting everyone else's time.

Treatment? It's an opinion, get over it. I didn't bash anyone or anything so read over things before you start attacking. I know in your perfect little world, you'd like to see the state championship be between the Scott County-Fern Creek winner and the Silver Grove-Heritage winner.

It's an opinion, just one that is shared by you and your world…

Do you know anything at all about this school ? Their mission ? Any conditions ?

Let me see, I'll say "No"….but that's obvious. You think that if a team opts out of post season that is somehow worthy of banishment from the very organization that was set up to protect schools like this.

I have nothing to get over….and for the record, I don't care one bit who plays for any State championship so you got me all wrong.

Everyone's got opinions, some are just rooted in the ridiculous….good luck to your team in the post-season.

Hearing piarist planned a trip and chose to go on it rather than play. Rumor that I cannot confirm or deny 100% but the source is solid.
