February 7, 20179 yr I'm going into a Severe Weather Alert Mode There are strong to severe storms that are developing in Arkansas and SE Missouri where a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued these storms are moving towards the northeast and may effect parts of western Kentucky early this morning. The main threats this morning are damaging winds, and hail up to 2" in diameter. A brief tornado or two can't be ruled out. There are, as of now some, Tornado Warnings with some these storms. Some storm developing also in western Kentucky but nothing severe as of yet. Later this afternoon storms are expected to redevelop. Any storm that develops could contain damaging winds, large hail and the tornado threat could be higher this afternoon. Keep checking back through out the day for updates. February 7, 20179 yr Author I walked outside in SHORTS last night at about 8:30 and was loving it. Bring on spring storms! Well temps will fall into the low to mid 20s by Thursday evening with snow showers possible. Especially in NKY. Little or no accumulations are expected.
February 7, 20179 yr Author Is there any hope for a big snow this year in Ky? According the the Climate Forecast System model the next shot at some heavy snow accumulations look to be around the first week of March.
February 7, 20179 yr Author The severe weather threat has diminished some as most of Kentucky is now in a Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe storms.
