February 4, 20179 yr BREAKING : The End of “The Resistance” Democrats Have NO Power in D.C. – TruthFeed That's why they are acting like spoiled children throwing tantrums.
February 4, 20179 yr Has this ever happened before? I'm not a Dem so you would know more than me but I've never seen such resentment towards Dems in my lifetime.
February 4, 20179 yr I'm not a Dem so you would know more than me but I've never seen such resentment towards Dems in my lifetime. Let me pose an easier question. How many Republicans voted for Obamacare?
February 4, 20179 yr Author Q: How many Republicans voted for Obamacare? A: QUICK ANSWER The Affordable Care Act, deemed "Obamacare" by some, received no Republican votes in either the Senate or the House of Representatives. In the Senate, the bill was passed with a total of 60 votes, or 58 Democratic Party votes and 2 Independent Party votes. The House passed the legislation with 219 Democratic votes, notes Forbes. Did any Republicans vote for Obamacare? FULL ANSWER The Affordable Care Act received 39 votes against it in the Senate, all from Republicans. One senator abstained from voting. In the House, there were 212 votes against it, with 34 coming from the Democratic Party and 178 from the Republican Party, according to govtrack.us. There were enough votes in the Senate to prevent an attempt to filibuster the bill, while the House vote required a simple majority.

There were enough votes in the Senate to prevent an attempt to filibuster the bill, while the House vote required a simple majority. Actually as I recall the Senate passed one version, the Dems even making a huge show of bringing Teddy Kennedy from his death bed to cast a vote for it. They needed his vote to have enough to stop a filibuster. They also had to make some sketchy deals with some Red Dog Dems to get their votes. Remember the Ben Nelson and the Cornhusker Kickback and Mary Landreau and the Louisiana Purchase? Kennedy took the long dirt nap very shortly there after and Scott Brown ran for and won his seat on a promise to stop Obamacare. In the meantime Nancy Pelosi pushed another, flawed version through the House (we have to pass the bill so we can see what's in the bill) where only a simple majority was needed, locking out Republicans from any discussions or hearings on the bill. It passed and John Yarmuth got a tingle. With Scott Brown taking Kennedy's Senate seat, the Dems no longer had enough votes to stop a filibuster if a reconciliation bill had been presented after a House/Senate conference committee. They could however vote to accept the flawed House version with no changes by a simple majority, which they did. That as I recall is how Obamacare as we know it came to be. February 4, 20179 yr Nice recap All Tell. So the Republicans had no power. They then proceeded to throw tantrums for the next 8 years. My point being this has happened before. Almost always when one power has complete control, things go bad in the nation. It doesn't matter which party has the control.

I don't think Republicans could do any worse going it alone, without the "help" of the Democrats.

February 4, 20179 yr Perception.Reality. More working age adults are not in the work force in the history of the republic. That's a fact.
February 4, 20179 yr Reality. More working age adults are not in the work force in the history of the republic. That's a fact. No use debating your facts versus other facts. There are facts on both sides. I consider the country much better off in 2017 than it was in 2009. That is my perception/reality.
February 4, 20179 yr Reality. More working age adults are not in the work force in the history of the republic. That's a fact. Several contributing factors there and way too simplistic to say it all hangs on Obama ( well...Bush).
February 4, 20179 yr Several contributing factors there and way too simplistic to say it all hangs on Obama ( well...Bush). And this is why the term 'Alternate Facts' was recently used. The base fact is a objective, inarguable fact and accurate. The 'reason' for the fact leads one down different paths as (validily) pointed out here.
February 4, 20179 yr No use debating your facts versus other facts. There are facts on both sides. I consider the country much better off in 2017 than it was in 2009. That is my perception/reality.I prefer to debate facts, the kind that are measurable. You may feel that the country is much better off, but the national debt increased during Obama's tenure by nearly $8 trillion. He presided over the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression. I do not feel that this country is better off having the benefit of a two-term Obama presidency, but I base my opinion on some cold, hard facts. Obama inherited a very weak economy from Bush and he left Trump a very weak economy.
